Bad sperm? genetics or just me! :/

could it be possible that my baby's dads sperm was bad from doing drugs so it gave my baby a heart problem? Trying to figure out any possible causes for my baby's chd considering the doctors aren't too helpful. -.- the most they said on what could have caused his tetralogy of fallot is....nothing....they said things just happen...I had a missed miscarriage last year the baby didn't have a heart beat inside of me for a week..that Babies dad was born with a heart problem so it could have been from him...this baby has a heart problem and it's a different dad...so I wonder if I'm the problem...but I also read that poor nutrition in the first trimester can cause tetralogy of fallot which I was in and out of the hospital my whole first trimester because of how sick I was I didn't eat for a week straight or take prenatals...there's so many things that this could b from...I know you ladies aren't doctors but anyone have an input!?

my ex bfs mom told me they didnt even know what was wrong with him until 36 hours after he was born awas it was a heart problem I forget what it was exactly tho....that would be very scary so I'm thankful it was detected during my pregnancy.

hellojojo try not to worry! I know it's scary just have faith and continue to get as much nutrients as possible :) n thank u rebeccaann I appreciate it....I haven't smoked or takin any medicines I just wish I knew exactly what caused it :/ I've just been guessing..thank u ladies

Congenital heart defects can have any number of causes. Sometimes genetics play a part, maternal smoking, different medications, and exposure to certain things while pregnant can lead to chd, while some are completely idiopathic in origin. it sounds very scary but the fact that this was picked up in utero is great. Usually baby has surgery within the first couple days of life and prognosis is usually very good!

Keep trying. I would say it would have to take decades of heavy use to cause problems. There's a lot of people on drugs that have kids together with no problems

Im.worried about problems from.my bad 1st trimester nutirition cuz I was so sick.I.didnt eat for likke u said a weeks straight actually 2 separate weeks..or take prenatal vitamins..it worries.me :/
