Yay! Your cervix is progressing fast, hopefully it's not much longer. Those last few weeks are so painful!
Yay!!! So happy for you!!!
well the dr. said that i am 70% effaced and i 2 cm dilated...which means that ive progressed in less than 24 hrs. im in early labor, yay =]
I'm really surprised they didn't monitor you for longer than that. I have had to be monitored before and I was kept for 1-2 hours for monitoring. Strange...you probably are in early labor. If the pains increase in intensity or frequency, I'd go back.
Something similar happened to me w/ my 3rd baby. I was contracting and knowing it was my 3rd baby and I was only 3 days from my due date, I knew I was in labor. But they sent me home anyway (my doc wasn't on call that weekend), and I did a lot of hard work all day at home. I was in so much pain. My husband finally said it was enough and to call the doctor again. My doc surprisingly called back. I wasn't expecting it to be him since he wasn't on call. Anyway, by the time I got to the hospital, I was 8cm dialated.
If you can feel your tummy getting really hard when you have the pains, then they are contractions. It's as if your stomach is being squeezed. When they last for less than like 30 seconds, they call it uterine activity but it's still contractions to me. So just keep an eye on the length of time they last, their intensity (your pain scale from 1-10), and the frequency. I also suggest taking a warm bath and laying down. It is also safe to take Tylenol. If you are in labor, it probably won't help one bit, but couldn't hurt to try, just so you can get some rest before it really is time :)
Good luck and don't hesitate to call your doctor again, if you feel you need to!
no the pain is not localized at all...it's all over the place and my mom said that im def. contracting bc she can see and feel them when i start acting like im in pain. She thinks im in early labor..the problem with the hosp. is that i wasnt in ANY pain at all when i was there....and i was only there for like 20 min. and of course as soon as i left...it comes back. So im not sure if their reading was accurate. also, they used that stupid strip to test for amniotic fluid...that's a joke, she merely grazed it against the outside of my vag. No wonder they get false readings from those things all the time >=(
Could be pre-labor which can start days before the real deal and can come and go. Praying you get some respite so you can rest up for the big day! I echo that you should watch the appendix; is the pain localized to your right side?
Did they check to make sure it's not your appendix? If it's not gas or contractions it could unfortunately be that. That's why my doctor was telling me when I was having my braxton hicks, they told me to watch out for my appendix.
I ended up going to L&D today...and they say that my water did not break...and that I'm not having contractions and everything seems fine. I have been buckled over in pain for over 24 hrs...and I am not a wuss. they did say that i was 1cm dilated and i wasn't at all on tuesday. i don't know...i have a dr. appt. tomorrow morning at 11....I have been taking gas ex that is not really doing much..and they said that's all that they could give me anyways. =( I really don't know what I'm gonna do if this pain continues on for too much longer.
Well, I put on a maxi pad and it wasn't even wet this morning, and the pains have calmed down a little bit. So I'm thinking they're just really severe gas pains, they're awful.
i'd suggest you go to L&D. my water broke at 23 weeks, and i honestly didn't want to admit that i was going into labor, so i waited 24 hours before i went in, and yup, i was in labor. hope everything turns out okay and it's just a leak in the sac though, but your pains sound like contraction
Go to the hospital and find out what's going on! You're almost there anyways - 37 weeks is full term - it could be labor! Good luck - let us know what happens and if the baby comes!! :-)
I would go. I know when I went into labor I was actually in denial that it was time. I was hurting pretty bad in my pelvis and back and it felt like I had to have a bowel movement, but I didn't have the energy to get up. When hubby got home from work I was on the bed crying before we went to L&D.
If it hurts that bad, I would be seen. Keep us updated!
hey I think that if u feel that something isn't right u should just go
since you are further along i would go to L&D.....you very well could be having contractions and be in labor
best of luck
