baby shower foods?

My babyshower is coming up quickly, and i still havent decided what kinda food i want to serve. i want something simple but not just finger foods.. can somebody plz give me some ideas? Thanks ladies (:

Thanks ladies for all the great ideas, im still undecided but hopefully i find something soon. ive been lookin on pinterest but i havent found anything yet. im kinda picky lol. but thanks everything sounds delicious

The "main dish" at mine was sandwiches. We put out a platter with different meats and cheeses. Then for appetizers/finger foods we had those cocktail weenies and meatballs in bbq sauce (i have to ask my mom for the recipe, all i know is that its regular bbq sauce and add grape jelly... its super good). we also had the traditional fruit/veggie platters. for dessert, we had cupcakes with pink and blue frosting ( i had boy/girl twins) =]

We did a taco /barrito bar with chicken and feed and tons of toppings. that way people can make their own food how ever they want and eat threw out the party. we also had cake, cupcakes, veggie platters and chips and salsa

Sorry i totally got carried away with that rant! Lol i have tons of awesome ideas if you want to message me i can give you more like the guess baby's... I did this with both of my showers and still have all of the responses saved each person guesses the baby's birth date, time, weight, height, hair color and eye color and then we left a few empty lines so each person could give any advice for mommy it was a very special keepsake for you! Good luck in the shower you'll have a blast no matter what!

Oh i was very very grateful for her doing it but still now almost 5 years later she's still throwing it my face that she did it for me but she didn't just do it for me she did it for her son too and her grandson too! She's so mean like seriously a mother in law from hell but anyways i know its very hard to put one together when i threw my sister hers i spent well over a grand on it and two days before we had about 23 people that said they were coming and only 4 showed up i made the cutest party favors by decorating picture frames with scrap booking stickers and borders and then we put her ultrasound picture in it so each guest was going to get one and they could use it for whatever picture they wanted it was so cute and a lot of work too! And i made a ton of food about 30 pieces of chicken i spent almost $300 on just the food itself to have 4 out of 23 people come and i felt terrible for her beside the grand i spent on just the party i spent at least another $300 on presents for the baby and 2 of the people that came didn't even bring her a present at all so she got very little :( after the shower i bought her carseat and stroller combo and 10 more packs of diapers more clothes and her diaper bag 2 months later i got married and she came to the wedding bcuz me and my husband took everyone to Lonestar steakhouse after and got stuck spending $300 on my families meals bcuz nobody brought money to pay for their own knowing we were going there afterwards my sister stated after dinner was done and paid for "thanks for the free meal sis" 3 weeks later she didn't even bother showing up for our reception let alone sending a gift even after she rsvp'd that she's be there!! I felt so so used after that happened you'd think my generosity ended there but no i bought her daughter the coolest little playhouse for xmas 3 months after my wedding and when i brought it to her i walked in to her house reeking of marijuana smoke and bcuz i smoked cigarettes at the time i wasn't even allowed to hold the baby even  i  hadn't smoked one since an hour before i showered and put on clean clothes!! I couldn't believe she did that to me after everything i had done for her and i haven't spoken to her since

Sandybaby that all sounds really good, thats probably something like i would do. but yea i wouldnt like it either if somebody did what ur mother in law did, but then again id just be grateful for her doing anything at all. id love for somebody to throw me a shower and me not have to worry about anything lol

I threw a baby shower for my sister last summer i served this really good baked chicken it was breaded with bread crumbs parmesan cheese and aregano and baked in the oven then i had a fruit salad and some cut up veggies and dip and some macaroni salad and potato salad then i bought this awesome cake from a baker they did an awesome job it was a stork holding a blanket with a baby girl inside it was so amazing they did a beautiful job on it really whatever you want make it its all up to you! Hope you have a great time! My MIL did my baby shower at a tea house and i hated the food she didn't listen to anything i said about what i wanted to eat she just did what she wanted it was all way to fancy for me

Its cold right now but i doubt its gona be cold in a couple weeks. but i live in texas so cant ever be sure about the weather lol

Can't go wrong with Mexican or BBQ - maybe not traditional but yummy all the same.
