That must be an auto correct. ;D Lamas. ;D I'm picturing some alpacas in the labor room.
To make the lamaze breathing method work you have to practice it a LOT. It has to become natural to you, when you're in pain, to suddenly relax and breathe rhythmically. You can't just hear about it and then expect to use it when you're in pain and real stress.
It's like learning to drive. You can't just hear from someone in a class that if something jumps in front of you you should press on the brakes, you have to practice driving a lot to learn how to press the brakes as an automatic reaction.
I asked this question a week or so ago, and most people said they couldn't concentrate on it, but I'm still taking a breathing and relaxation class.
I guess im asking if lamas helps
A lot of women, like you, stop breathing during contractions.
That causes the contractions to hurt lots worse, and as jk says, the baby gets less oxygen during the contractions.
It's unlikely they care whether you breathe in a pattern or not - but just don't completely stop breathing. You can practice this, leading up to the time of your labor by telling your body to relax and breathe. Just go limp, close your eyes and breathe. If you practice it enough you will stop withholding breath during contractions in labor.
Best wishes.
Unless your hyperventilating breathe however you want and tell who ever is aggravating you to "shut up, I'm busy!" ;D it's the only time in a woman's life when you get a free pass to be snippy and cranky without anyone taking it personally so have fun with it!! ( but if you are hyperventilating that means te baby is getting less oxygen so at least listen with one ear and try to slow down your breathing or ask for oxygen.) good luck :D
