My wic counsiler told me that there is no known research on caffeine intake with pregnant women but they ask you to cut down because of that simple fact.. they don't know what could happen. I've heard that babies can't digest it like we do also too.

Im the same. I literally drink 6+ cans a day. Im trying so hard to stop but its not working. Im usually a really bad soda drinker so i wanted to quite during my pregnancy and i want the caffeine more now than before
I believe it causes the baby heartbeat to increase. But I drink caffine daily and my daughter is fine.
My dr said two caffeinated drinks a day is ok. But they can't be more than 8 ounces.
I drink two 12 oz cans a day. I know that's more than I should but it's a heck of a lot better that what I was doing before I got pregnant. I would drink like 8 cans a day before!
Just make sure you are also drinking lots of water.
I drink lots of caffeine and so far so good... lol i dont stress it too much. My sister in law drank caffeine throughout all 3 of her pregnancies and the kids are fine.

Statement: Caffeine causes birth defects in humans.
Facts: Numerous studies on animals have shown that caffeine can cause birth defects, preterm delivery, reduced fertility, and increase the risk of low-birth weight offspring and other reproductive problems. There have not been any conclusive studies done on humans though. It is still better to play it safe when it comes to inconclusive studies.
Statement: Caffeine causes infertility.
Facts: Some studies have shown a link between high levels of caffeine consumption and delayed conception.
Statement: Caffeine causes miscarriages.
Facts: In 2008, two studies on the effects of caffeine related to miscarriage showed significantly different outcomes. In one study released by the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, it was found that women who consume 200mg or more of caffeine daily, are twice as likely to have a miscarriage as those who do not consume any caffeine.
In another study released by Epidemiology, there was no increased risk in women who drank a minimal amount of coffee daily ( between 200-350mg per day.)
Due to conflicting conclusions from numerous studies, the March of Dimes states that until more conclusive studies are done, pregnant women should limit caffeine intake to less than 200 mg per day. This is equal to about one 12 oz cup of coffee.
Statement: A pregnant woman should not consume ANY caffeine.
Facts: Experts have stated that moderate levels of caffeine have not been found to have a negative effect on pregnancy. The definition of moderate varies anywhere from 150 mg – 300 mg a day.

I love sweet tea and I think that's my pregnancy craving.. a lady told me today at my baby shower that it has too much caffeine, but I put that in the back of my mind and I continue to guzzle it lol.
I had my only miscarriage due to an over load of caffeine. I also knew a girl who had 15 miscarriages because of the amount of caffiene she drank. I'm not saying don't drink it because I still enjoy my coffee but def cut down. I think I read that 180 mg is OK another place said 300 another said 15 and another said none at all. I stick with about 150 mg per day
