Your situation sounds very similar to my best friend, her daughter is three months old and she had the same thing happening, she would feed her very often and always spit it up. she ended up having acid reflux and also prescribed her the same thing, another thing her doc suggested was hypoallergenic formula and it did wonders. her daughter is now eating at the right time schedule and isnt spitting up every time she eats. Hope the zantac helps!
welll we took her to the doctor and he put her on zantac and also said that we could put a tablespoon of rice cereal in her bottle to help so hopefully this will all get sorted out.
Nopee.. its july the 9th LOL, thats why I was asking she thought I was 10 weeks... I think ill be 12 tomorrow Im going by my dates only because you know your own body haha....
She said something like you cant normally feel the top of your uterus untill 11 weeks... or somethingg I forgot I was toooo busyy listening for the heartbeat hahha....
its all SO confusingg
x
probablly so!! you might be further along than she thinks. have you had an ultrasound yet?
After we FINALLY found it... Last timee he was just beloww my bellybutton on the right hand side but todayy he was on the left just under my pelvic bonee?? haha... So its just like its dad haha...
But yeahh she was shocked to feel it alreadyy?? Which means I was right I think?
xx
your uterus typically pops out of your pubic bone at 12 weeks but its different for everyone. :) the heartbeat is always excitingg! :)
Just be careful with rice cereal in her bottle because it can make her constipated. IF she is only 6 weeks she should not be given cereal yet, anyways. Ask the doc about the formula RS. It works great. I said formula with AR earlier and meant formula RS for sensitive stomachs.
Well you're getting her checked... But even if it might be, dont let them say its just reflux Just incase its like my friends son??
A question that is TOTALLY irrelivant...
Is it 11 weeks where the midwife can start to feel the top of your uterus??
Cause mine can and she was Shocked too feel it because she thought I was 10 weeks but apprently thats too soon to feel the top of my uterus or something so Idk. and I heard the heart again todayy but peanut was REALLLLLY low down compared to last time.
xx
yeah we are gettin her checked today we have an appt at 3 30.. thank god :)
im not sure if it does or not ill have to pay closer attention next time she burps
the soy didn't make her more fussy it just made her spit up more and soy is so nasty so we were like skrew this lol
i thought so too..the first time she didn't poop for over 24 hours i called her doctor and was all worried and he said its normal for them to do that and just to take her temp to stimulate it. so idk.
grrr. shes had 5 ounces of formula and mylanta..and shes still fussing and sucking on her hands. the thing that confuses me though is that she doesn't scream like shes in pain like i would think if her throat was burning. its little cries...it only turns into screams if i let her cry a little bit.
okayy. haha....
and then when they're older they will get a more solider ricee for solidds haha
??
x
LOL Cass thats exactly what it is! Just rice cereal, it makes her formula/milk like a milkshake but it remains a liquid.
The spitting up does sound like AR. Conner would actually spit up in his sleep! And then cry, and cry. By watery I mean...like a vomit burp...does it sound like fluid is coming up when she burps?
Soy usually does aggravate AR, it know it did with Conner...it even gave him the runs at one point. Cereal honestly didn't help him at all, and made it slightly worse, in fact now that I think of it...he never had baby cereal except for the week we tried him on it, and he quit pooping lol.
Also, once a day for her age just doesn't sound normal to me. I know Conner didn't go to once a day poops until he was well over a year old, and still depending on what he eats or drinks, he will poop 2-3 times a day and he will be 2 in October.
I would push the subject of at least trying Zantac and Prevacid with your doctor. It won't hurt Ariana at all to try it. I know that they were a life saver for me with Conner. And I would have to up his dose once a month because he was gaining weight.
Ohhh.... haha... see stupid me LOL...
But i understand.. basically like rice cereal in milk... Like solids but in her bottle??
and not solids? I knoww what I mean. Im new to all this and im learning but it's what came to my head LOL.
Takee her to gett checkked.
xx
Nooo lol...it's baby cereal. It comes in small soft flakes, either bran cereal, oatmeal, rice, or a mixture. Some even come with fruit!
If you look at Gerber's website, they should have it listed as one of their products.
she poops about once a day. sometimes twice. so pretty normal i suppose.
she does spit up after every feeding..it seems like a lot to me. probably about an ounce per feeding but it doesn't come out all at once she spits up several times each time i feed her.
she almost always spits up when we burp her. and her burps sound like big people burps..idk what watery means...but i guess you could say they do im just not sure. they dont sound like little baby burps though but then again shes my first baby so i dont know what baby's burps are supposed to sound like lol.
we've tried soy formula and it only exasperated her spitting up so we switched back to just similac advance.
we haven't tried cereal yet..mainly because we were gonna wait until 6 weeks to try it (well she'll be 6 weeks tomorrow so idk how it would matter now) but my MIL bought her a box and i hate to go out and buy another one because she is babysitting saturday...so if we can just make it till then.
although i might need to invest in some anyway because my mother is babysitting friday and this little baby is gonna drive her nuts :(
I have heard you mention the cereal in her bottle and every time I read it i keep thinking like Frosties and cocopops and breakfast cereal and Im too scared to ask if it is that LOL..
Is it?
and gett her checked asapp..
xx
is she pooping normal? My other suggestion would be colic, and you could try Similac Alumentum colic formula, or soy formula. I know with Conner Mylanta didn't work for him AT ALL either, which is why the docs prescribed him Zantac and Prevacid.
How is her spitting up? Does she do it after almost every feeding? Does she do it mainly while burping or after a good burp? Do her burps sound watery?
I'm no doctor obviously ;) but it does sound like AR, but it could be colic, heck it could be any number of things. I remember Conner had it soooo bad I took him to a normal ER and told them I was not leaving until I had an answer as to why he was fussy and screaming non stop all the time. They then sent me to the childrens hospital because they were not equipped to run tests on a newborn, and thats when they did an upper GI and verified that he had severe acid reflux, and in that case the mylanta did not help.
People with the occasional heart burn find relief in mylanta and tums/rolaids. But people with Acid Reflux do not, AR is just a severe case of heartburn, most people know what food will affect their heartburn, but people with AR get heartburn from almost everything. So keep that in mind as well.
I wish you the best of luck, I know how frustrating it can be. Have you tried cereal in her bottle yet?
I think you should get checkkked, Cause my friends son ate and ate and ate but was starving him self to deathh still....
Just to be on the safe sidee :)
xxxxx
idk now im doubting my reflux thing because the mylanta doesnt seem to be helping. i gave her 5 mL and its not making her stop fussing. shes not screaming..at least not yet...just little cries. still sucking on her hands though. and she just ate about an hour ago.maybe shes just not full.
My friends son had something like that, the doc said it was reflux but where he was sicking back up his milk he was starving his self to death or something... but it took them 6 months to convince the Docs it WASNT reflux. Actually it took her mental boyf who went MAD at the docs when they said its just reflux for them to get a scan to find this out... And he had an emergancy operation to fix his stomach cause he was starving himself!
Im not trying to scare you or say this is whats wrong... But id get her checked for EVERYTHINGGG. Pleasee
xx
My baby girl uses the formula with AR. What that formula has in it is rice starch with helps them to not spit up and fills their tummies since it is thicker in texture. It is not cereal and just a starch that is added to the formula. Target and walmart all make a generic formula with AR for sensitive stomachs. THis works great for my daughter.
my eli had REALLY bad reflux issues until he was a year old. We put both boys on a soy based formula and eli had to take medication. (it was baby zantac) before we found out what it was he'd be up all night crying and screaming. i thought he had some rare baby disease. lol. there were so many nights i called my mom crying (dh was still stationed in d.c., for about 2 months i was on my own..completely and the boys were our first babies) not knowing what to do. she'd call off work and come to our place at 2 am to help me. once their pedi figured it out and prescribed him the zantac...omg it was a complete 180. he slept all night and was a happy baby. once he hit a year old we switched both kids to vitamin d milk (we transitioned them 3/4 soy formula 1/4 vit d for 2 weeks, then half and half, then 3/4 vit d milk and 1/4 soy formula until they were all vit d. milk) and he hasn't needed his baby zantac and no milk allergies.
Zantac is a weight based medication, and eventually it will become ineffective. There is a WONDERFUL Gerd forum, that was my savior when Conner was diagnosed with Acid Reflux.
And honestly I would suggest asking your doc for both Zantac and Prevacid meltaway chews, those 2 combined did wonders for us. However the Prevacid is very expensive. It cost me nearly $200 dollars for a months worth.
yeah he is..i phoned his cell after doing some research and determining i thought it was reflux and i explained my thoughts to him..he said that some babies need to be put on zantac for acid in their tummies and he told me to call the nurse to make an appointment with him tomorrow. he is going to look into it for me; i cannot wait for that appointment because today has been a very rough day for us both.
