special needs children.

Ok Ladies.   So I Am Currently 18 +5 Weeks Pregnant With My Third Child. I Have A Soon To Be4 yYear Old Son And A Soon To Be 3 Year Old Daughter. And My Daughter Is Considered A Special Needs Baby. Even Though She's Going To Be 3 She's Around The 2 Year Old Stage Developmentally But My Husband And I Don't Feel Like She's Special Needs She's Super Smart. Very Intelligent But When Her Therapists Come For Her Sessions She Pretends Like She Can't Do Anything Because She Loves The Attention. She's Always Happy And Excited To Do New Things. The Only Reason Why She's So Far Behind Is Because She Was Born With A Very Severe Cleft Lip And Palate A Cleft In Her Forehead And Without A Nose So For The First Year Of Her Life She Was Like A Newborn She Never Really Had The Chance To Be Her Age. So She's Had Four Surgeries Since She Was Born And She's So Amazing We Love Her And Her Brother Unconditionally... And She's Finally Catching Up To Her Ages Developmentally. Im Just Nervous To How She's Going To Act When The New Baby Is Here? Anyone Else Have A Special Needs Child? Sorry For THe Long Stormy

My sis is special needs. My parents underwent many tests to figure out what she had but she was never diagnosed. Developmentally she is at about a 5 yr old state but emotionally shes her age which is 30. We were told she would never talk, walk or do anything for herself. My parents refused to believe that  and had her in many programs. She talks well but its equivilent to a conversation with a 5 year old but sr understands things on a more mature level. Ive learned many things from my sis and shes made me the person i am today.

Dont stop fighting if you believe your daughter is capable of more. You know her better then any therapist can. I think she will do great with the new baby may need just a bit of reassurance and coaching. Like you said she never had the chance to develop the first 2 years so continue doing what u are and im sure she will catch up. Either way shes a blessing:)

My Daughter Isn't Aggressive. She Understands That A Baby Is Sensitive But She Is Also Very Jealous At Times! But Im Sure Your NieCe Will Understand If You Explain It To There When It Does Happen. :) Good luck

I have a niece that has down syndrome usually she's really lovable but she gets aggressive quickly. Even though we are not pregnant yet I get really worried as in how she will be when we do end up having a baby also.
