Should I be worried?

I have 3 more days till my due date, May 5, and I have absolutely no signs of labor. I went for my 39th week checkup on Wednesday and I haven't made any progression since last week. I'm still at 50% with no dilation. I really don't want to get induced but my doctor said that If I don't progress by next week that he will schedule me for induction. Is there anything I can do?

It's not so much that he's being a jerk. I told him that I was frustrated with being pregnant & that I wanted him out. So he said that since they don't go past 41 weeks that he would induce me at that marl. But I don't want to be induced and I didn't suggest for an induction either. I just don't want to go too many days past my due date. But if I have to then I'll wait. I do walk but that doesn't seem to be working. They say sex helps but that's not an option for me so then what else is there?

Then wait. Your doctor can b*tch and moan all he wants but if you don't want to be induced then he can't make you do it. A friend of mine a few yrs ago just kept "forgetting" her appointments until she went in to labor and then went to deliver. There are ways around it if you want to wait it out with an impatient jerk of a doc. You just gotta be sneaky. ;)

No, there's actually no medical reason for me to get induced. Matter of fact, I'm not even inducable quite yet. My baby is healthy. I've had no complications as far as pre-eclampsia or GD. I've had a pretty normal pregnancy. I just don't want to get induced if I can wait till he's ready.

If you really don't want to be induced he can't make you. He'll try to bully you and scare you probably but they make their big money off inductions that end in c sections. My friend's doc tried to scare her during delivery saying they needed to operate bc the baby was suffering. Too bad for them that I was there. She asked me if it was true and their monitors showed absolutely nothing wrong. Other than the doc being pissed off that he didn't get to make it home for dinner, the delivery went fine and the baby was perfectly healthy. A lot of the docs out here try to make you conform to their schedules.

Is there a medical reason that you HAVE to be induced? My mother carried me for just over 11 months. I know they don't let women do that anymore but a lot go to 42 wks before they let their docs induce them. Measurements are never exact and most of the time the due dates are wrong by a week or two in either direction. Unless there's something wrong and you need the baby out now I don't see why you can't tell you doc to hold off on it. As long as the baby is still healthy... sometimes they just feel the need to bake a bit longer.
