A blighted ovum likelihood.. stressing

I am pregnant with #2 but as of today only 5 weeks 5 days. According to LMP. I go to my doctor thursday, I'll be 6 weeks 4 days... This was ABOUT how far along I was with my first when I did my initial check up. Saw the sac and the baby. With my first I didn't worry about anything other than the health and the birth. This one I am more aware of what can happen and I just want peace. I wish I could un-know everything just so I stop thinking about it. Does anyone know how common a blighted ovum is? I know miscarriage is such a small chance but I read about them everywhere on birth boards and seems like it happens to everybody.

I didn't realize miscarriages were that common, I read that 1% of pregnancies end in miscarriage. Thanks for your feedback.

One in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage - it's not really a small chance, it's a pretty significant one. I do not know what percentage of miscarriages are due to blighted ovum and what percentage are due to other factors, though. But there is absolutely nothing you can do to change those risks. All you can do is keep a positive attitude, hope for the best, and stay convinced that absolutely everything is fine. Pregnancy is amazing - no sense spending big chunks of it wondering and worrying about what *could* happen. I've lost my last two pregnancies, one to a blighted ovum and one to a different (unknown) cause, but I am still hopeful that we will be successful next time. Best of luck to you.
