I had an epi with my first and her birth was so calm and relaxed. I never had any complications or back pain afterwards. My second i had an epi again and that time they knicked my spine. Just barely so It didn't bother me at time and again i had a pain free labor. However i was very slowly leaking spinal fluid and by the end of the week I couldn't even set up and had to go to the ER and get a blood patch done. (They shoot a little bit of your blood into your spine to stop the leak) after that I was fine and no back pain. My third baby the epi didn't work. I don't think he got it close enough to my spine. They tried another one a few hours later and it didn't work either. Natural child birth was the most painful thing I've ever felt. Nothing calm or relaxing about that birth or labor!
I had an epi with my first two and after the second time I recieved it thats when the back pain started so if I can make it natural with this child I will do it but I am not opposed to getting the epi because it works wonders
I had an epi when I delivered my first child. N it worked fine for me, I always had back pain... N when I was in labor with my first daughter I had a lot of back labor. N my back hurted off n on for a few months after I gave birth. But I plan on getting an epi with this pregnancy as well... So it just depends on the person. Good luck with everything:-)
I had to be induced with my last pregnancy because of preeclampsia. I had to have the epidural because my blood pressure was sky high. I didn't want it and it did make my back hurt for about 4 to 6 months. I could barely carry my little guy around the house. I'm praying for a natural birth this time.
It depends on the person from what I understand everything has risks. For myself I had the epi with both and I plan to with this one. I've never had any back issues from getting it. But if u already have back probs I'd talk to ur doc about it.
