103.8 Fever

I'm watching my little sister who is 5 and she's running a temperature of 103.8. I gave her ibuprofen two hours ago and it didn't bring the fever down. We did the Luke warm bath and it brought it down to 101.2 but then shot back up within the hour. I don't know what to do at this point. My parents are both trying to get off work, but are having no luck. She's drinking water like crazy so I'm not worried about dehydration.

Since I'm her older sister, can I take her to the emergency room? I don't have her insurance card or anything like that.

Getting her in and everything was easy. They sent us home with tamiflu because she's only had the symptoms for less than 48 hours. I hate seeing her this sick.

I worked in an emergency room, you can take her in. One of your parents will need to call the er and tell them you are coming and give verbal consent for treatment. Also, it is ok if you dont have an ins card. Your parents can bring it later or even the next day, just have them give the ins information to the registration staff.

Poor thing:-( I hope they can get her fever down. The flu is nothing to mess with especially this year. Praying she feels better soon!

You can take her, have your parents txt you the insurance info until they can get there and meet up with you. But if she's running a fever like that she really needs to be seen.

Give her motrin or tylonal...Also pedialite. Strip her down to as little clothing as possible. Give her a sheet to stay covered.  Get some chicken noodle soup as well.

Well you can and tell your parents to meet you there. Since your family they should let you take her in and you mom can fill out papers later since she's so sick.
