That's weird. My OB listens to mine at every visit and has done so since 8 weeks.

I have already had 3 ultrasounds and 2 fetal heart monitor to just listen to the baby's heart beat. I am only 17+3 weeks and have my anatomy scan scheduled for 20 weeks. I guess some doctors do things differently, but the office I go to told me that what they are doing is standard care. Maybe that is just in CT?

I heard my baby's heartbeat at 15 weeks probably just depends on what doctor you see... you can buy a doovey to use at home and that way can hear the heart beat whenever u want :-) might be just an option :-) have you seen heartbeat Atleast? In an ultrasound ??

U should get a fetal doppler so u can check yourself.

They should be able to hear heartbeat with a doppler by 12-13 wks.  It may be kind of hard cuz baby is still small but with a lil digging it's dwf possible, depends on the patience of the Dr or midwife.  If I werebu I would at least start look out for sign of movement since by 16 wks it's def possible to feel baby wiggling around in there by 16 wks.  U just need to use the process of elimination to differentiate what ur feeling.  By ur next apt, I would def ask them to listen for baby's heartbeat.  Goodluck..

Apparently internal scans shows the heartbeat not sure if you would hear it. I'm soon to find out tomorrow on my internal scan. I'm only 8 weeks.

That seems so strange! My OB checked my  little guy and his heartbeat at my 12 week appointment by ultrasound and let me hear it and then at my 16 week appointment they used the Doppler and found his heartbeat no problem! I am an ER nurse and we start checking for fetal heart tones on anyone expecting using Doppler at 12 weeks but sometimes it is hard to hear that early but always by 14 weeks we can hear it, no problem!

I used a mid wife with my son and after my first appointment she listened to the heart beat every visit...even when I was getting a ultra sound later that day...I would switch mid wives or call and tell then you want to hear it...by 16 weeks they should be able to find it no problem! At 10 weeks they found it easy!

With my first i only remember hearing it once and it was after 20 weeks but i cant remember when. All doctors are different and so is their technology. Currently i am still seeing my family doctor and he only has a stethascope (in ontario you see your gp until almost 30 weeks if everything is good then you see an obgyn.) Having a doctor try to find it but not be able to would stress me out so them not trying is ok with me.

That seeems odd to me too. My doc listens to mine at every appt. Started doing it when i was 11 weeks. Took a little bit for them to find it on the first one but no problem since then. They find it within a few seconds.  I would question why she won't do it. If she says it's because it's hard to find  I would be doubting her ability.

That does seem a bit strange. I went to my midwife at 14w5d and again at 15w5d and both times she let me hear the heart beat. I didn't even have to ask, it was just routine. She did find it very quick and said that my bub wasn't hard to find, not hiding. My cousin heard hers at her 8 week dating scan. Maybe arrange to see a different midwife.

My doc wont do it until second trimester so I didnt hear it until my 16 week appt. It is hard to find when they are little. They had to give me an ultrasound in the office at 24 weeks because they had trouble finding it. But since then they do the doppler at every appt and I hear her just fine
