1st real contraction (like labor contractions?)

Experienced mommies: Im 31 weeks +6 days. Last night around 2am I woke up with pain and my uterus was hard. It lasted about 1 minute. Made me breathe a little harder. I knew it was a contraction based on what my doctor had explained in the past might happen which is normal so long as its not more than 4 times in an hour.  So my question is do actual labor contactions feel like this? Stronger? And last this long or longer?

Ya, when they first started, I actually just thought I had eaten something bad, BC it was an hour after lunch, felt like normal gas/diarrhea cramps for that lasted about 2 hours.   I didn't even notice the contractions, just cramps.  I don't know how it transitioned over, but I was actually driving and on the phone with a friend, and I realized I went from wondering were I could find a bathroom, to crying BC of the pain.  That's when I started feeling the tightening running down my sides and my stomach.  The back cramping continued along with it, but in-between contractions, I didn't feel anything!  It was weird.  I was trying to convince my husband to let me shower when I got home, and right after I would say that, I was hunched over the couch turning colors he said:)  needless to say, he thru my but in the car, and we went to l&d.  Had my boy at 2:30am.

Before I went to sleep I had 2 smaller pains also that lasted a few seconds each, that felt like diarrhea cramps, but wasnt sure if they were baby related or it was gas or something else.

Also, it felt a lot like diarrhea cramping at first, and for me, when it was full blown contractions, it radiated down my sides and in my back,  with a sharp pain in my low abdomen.

Bh can be really strong,  and make it hard to breath.  I was induced with my first and given pain killers thru IV almost immediately,  so never really felt them, but with my 2nd, I went into labor by myself, and let me tell you,  when its the real deal, you wont wonder, you will know:)  I also have back labor, so that may have made them worse, but I definitely had no doubt.  Good luck!

They should be 5 minutes apart and if you go to the hospital and your water hasn't break they will send you home so just wait they could be Braxton hicks or false labor... or if you feel they are really close go to L&d to fet check to b on the safe side... good luck
