I wouldt worry about that to much! U can do that with any name tbh! My name is Vicki, I've been called sicky Vicki, sticky Vicki, & when I had an electric shaver in my bag at school & went off in my maths lesson I got called vibrator Vicki LOL but It wasnt bullying, just a kid thing! I just laughed along! I had a friend called Melissa who I called smell in school & another called Tamar who I still call tomato now!! so pretty much any name u choose is gunna have a funny rhyme to a kid, go with the name u like if say :)
I have been doing loads of research and found out it has never been used really in the US as a name and in the UK it peeked in the 1940's as a popular name but dwindled out.
We have chosen a boys name now but i just really think it is a girl and i really do love the name Pru. Think we'll have to wait for the 20 weeks scan.x
I also liked that name but changed my mind when I had my first daughter in 2002. Then I really liked Sydney and Paige :)
Hmm. Prudence is a word, and it's actually where the shortened "prude" comes from. It's a noun that describes a person who is a prude - with synonyms "cautiousness" and "guardedness".
I think few girls would be happy with that name, really, but some would think it was cool. Maybe as a middle name and let your child decide if she wants to be called that?
Congrats on your pregnancy -
That was my other worry being called a prude. Oh Man kids are so mean!x
I think it'll depend on where you are. I teach at a Catholic school and the kids all know the name Prudence and stories of several St. Prudence's. Of course the younger grades and the kids who cant pronounce 'r' will definitely say Poodence. Now in a public school I would fear the nickname 'Prude', which can be hard for a young girl.
I actually really like the name, maybe even for a middle name.
My friend got called prune juice
