I was told specifically not to pump, because it can cause contractions, and I'd like babs to stay inside a bit longer. I'm going to see the nurse on Thursday, I hope this doesn't cause problems with my milk supply after birth.
With my other two kids, I couldn't breastfeed and did cabbage leaves to stop the milk production. Within just a few days, it stopped. A lot of women's milk comes in before the baby arrives and actually, some women pump it and label it to use after baby is born if it's still ok by then. I've seen a few baby shows that had women who did it but it can bring on labor. Most of them were in the safe range when they started so the possibility of it starting labor was welcomed. I would just let it go and use pads and Tylenol for pain. I don't know if once they stop producing, you can get it to restart after birth. I would consult a lactation specialist, maybe a different one than you have already or Google it.
Cabbage leaves doesn't stop production it os just a natural pain reliever. Are you going to be pumping to store your milk for baby?
Didnt mean to scare u I just heard people that dont breastfeed put them on to stop it so I didnt want u to not be able too
I would do what they say im sure its not going to mess it up
I called the nurse and she said to use the cabbage leaves, she even called back to confirm after she spoke to the doctor. Im confused now. Is it the cabbage that stops it or the cold? If I put a wet tea towel in the freezer and use that for a couple of minutes will that do any harm? I used the leaves for only 10 minutes until it eased up a bit, after it just leaked out on it's own, at least some of it.
Dont do cabbage leaves that stops production call the hospitals lactation department and ask what to do if anything.
