34 weeks preterm labor, 2nd baby

Okay ldies, im 34 weeks tomorrow and my doctor is almost positive I'll have my 2nd son before 37 weeks. My first son was born 18 month's ago at 39w+2..i didn't have any progress with that pregnancy until my last appointment at 39w, when i was 80% effaced and 2cm dilated and at station -1. At 30 weeks this pregnancy i started measuring two weeks behind and started effacing and dilating..at my 33w appointment i was told im 70% effaced and 2cm dilated and station -1 nearly 0..still feeling lots of pressure and have been having bh contractions for over a week but they're not painful just uncomfortable. My mucus plug is gone, i lost that around 28w and have been coming to weekly appointments. My Dr appointment for 34w is tomorrow and if ive had any change ill be administered steriods to help my sons lungs. My question is..has anyone been in this situation and made it to term..? I know ive had to dilate more because I am having more and more pressure and a bit of cramping today, it kills me to stand or walk and ive been on bed rest for a week now. Praying to keep him in until 37w but it's looking doubtful. I just want to know how far you ladies have gotten being as progressed as I am..only being 34w.

i am pregnant with baby numeber seven, ever since baby number 4, i have always been dilated to a 3 and never had the baby before getting induced at 39 weeks, every dr told me i was going to go in early but i never did, and it all depends on the baby and the persons body, just like my dr tells me now i will probably go in early, but i know i wont, the pressure is super bad down there, feels like he wants to fall out, but thats how they all have been and theres never  been anything wrong, i have always been 70% effaced as well but never went early again your body is different than mine or anyones on here, but dont think just because you have all that he/she is coming early, cuz i have all the same things, but my dr has no concern and neither do i, i also trust God and his decisions he makes, but prayers your way God Bless!

Hey! I'm on the same boat. I started losing mucus plug around week 30, and mild contractions began around 32.
At my next appointment, at 35 weeks, Doctor confirms I was at risk of delivering my baby prematurely. She recommended steroid shots too, but I ended up not having them.
We have already hit week 36 (and 3 days yay!)
I'm on bed rest too. I've been for a week straight now. And it has worked for now. I got checked today cause I had strong contractions and cramping last night and very little has changed. I was so afraid she told me I was completely effaced... Still on bed rest, my doc adviced me, actually strongly adviced me, to take more water, since it stops contraction on the spot. Whenever I felt a contraction, I had to take a full 2 glasses of water. Plus your normal 8oz, 2l, daily.

Do you have gestational diabetes or any other condition? I was adviced to take the steroid shot because the baby's lungs of gd moms are less mature. But if you don't have any condition, the steroid shot its recommended up to week 34.. So your baby's lungs should be fine by now :)

I am so optimistic at the moment that I will manage to keep my baby inside for another week... Stay strong and think positive, and remember drinking tons of water! :)

We ended up not doing the steroids because I had already hit 34 weeks and apparently getting them can actually agitate your uterus, thus causing me more contractions. I almost went to L&D last night because i was having so many contractions..still painless..but the tightening seemed stronger..I could feel them coming on every time because they were compressing my lungs now too. I tried everything, bath..water moving positions. Nothing stopped them. Eventually around the time my husband got up for work I couldn't time them. Now today I just feel run down and fatigued. Bed rest had helped me not progress but half a centimeter at my 34w appointment. Im now 70% 2.5cm and station -1. My cervix is still posterior though. I go back Monday for a growth scan and to get checked again. My Dr doesn't seem worried at all, said he'll be fine now and we will just take it one week at a time. im hoping to make it to at least 36 weeks. Having contractions daily for two weeks messes with your emotions and im exhausted from the "is this it" feeling.

I went into labor at 30 weeks and got the steroids. Now I'm 36 weeks!! They stopped my labor also. But 1 week from today I will be having my baby due to issues.

I went into labour with my first son at 33 weeks they managed to successfully stop his labour. My second son was born at 33 weeks and he was 5lbs born, he's 15 months old now and doesn't even look like a prem baby he's bigger than his older brother. Why didn't they give you the atosiban sooner if they knew you were dilating at 30 weeks? That seems irresponsible of them.

34 weeks your baby will probably be a good size.

Good luck xx
