34 wks and menstrual like cramps/aches

How normal is this, having achy menstrual like cramps in lower pelvic area. It is miserable, uncomfortable and I try to stretch and do butterfly stretches and nothing seems to alleviate the ache. Is anyone else having this problem? Any pain relief suggestions? I also fold up my heating pad and put it between my legs. Grrr.

I'm 34 weeks tomorrow and on hospital bedrest. I started with the same thing a few days ago and they say it's normal. Your uterus is expanding pretty fast as the baby is gaining about 1/2 lb a week. They have monitored me during the bad cramping and no contractions show up. Just a growing pain!
