AFP testing positive

Hello ladies has anyone got a positive afp test? I got a call from my doctors and said my AFP test came back positive and I just couldn't help myself. Doctor said baby was at risk of having DS. Went in and did the level 2 ultrasound and baby looked fine. But while talking to my counselor, she went over the risks and told me my baby was at high risk. Said 1:4 which means 1 mother will have a baby born with down syndrome and the other 3 mothers have a normal pregnancy.it's a 25 out of 100 percentage. I'm just so scared and hope my baby boy healthy. So I did the blood drawn to be sent to the lab to be sure. And the hard part is waiting for my results. And please, I need your thoughts and prayers for my baby boy. I pray to God everyday. If any mothers been thru the same thing as me, please share your story with me. Make me feel not alone.

My doctor called me with the same news with my first pregnancy.. I did the blood test.. An eternity later they call me back and tell me no DS... But she has turners syndrome.. Fast forward to 42 weeks pregnant.. I have my baby girl and all is well..

Even if your baby has DS, wouldn't you think him normal? We are so used to marginalizing children with different abilities because our society calls them disabilities, but isn't it possible to still have a healthy baby who is diagnosed with DS? It's all perspective, although I wish for you, just like I'd wish for myself and other women, that they get what they want for their child.
