This is my second baby and I have epilespy too. I am very lucky as my consultant is Dr Morrow who started the epilespy pregnacy register here in northern ireland. It is used all over the world now. He started it at least 18 years ago and found out what effects every epilespy drug has on unborn baby and followed the children once born. Before I even planed my first baby he made sure I was aware of best drug to be on. I was on epilim and switched to keppra which has no ill effect on me or baby. Thank god during pregnancy I have been great but they then to monitor me more first week after birth as risk of seizures can go up. I am for 29 week scan today with joint epilespy clinic for pregnant woman to see consultant today for check up. Hopefully all good.

Stopping seizure meds cold turkey will cause you to withdraw. Esp if ur taking depakote. Its a very powerful drug that if you stop it suddenly, it will make seizures worse...

Im 22 weeks along. I shifted to Lamotrigine when i was about 9 weeks pregnant. I found out we were pregnant about 5 weeks. Then Neuro doc weaned me slowly from Depakote ER to Lamotrigine. Im staying at a low dose of 100mg for Lamo as dosage has to correspond to weight. It has controlled me well too. I take it during nighttime. And no weight gain like what Depakote does... What about you? Whats ur dosage and how was ur Lamictal controlling ur seizures?

I've taken almost exactly the same thing I went from Depakote to prenatals and Lamictal which is generic for your Lamotragine. How far along are you & has it helped?

Hi there. Im a FTM and i suffer from seizures. I take Depakote before i got pregnant and was taking prenatals just in case. Then when me and my husband found out i was pregnant, i was switched to Lamotrigine which is the safest for pregnant women with seizures. I know its really hard for us women with seizures  now that we are carrying a life inside, we need to be extra careful. I understand you...I sometimes feel like going to have an attsck but doubt it since I am taking meds, sometines I would think maybe my medication is not controlling it good. Or maybe these are just adverse reactions to the drug...due to the fluctuating  hormones also which can trigger seizures, why we pregnant women need to be more careful. If you dont feel well, you could call your OB or husband. Then stay in a safe place, with carpeted floors, away from stairs, and near a bed if you feel auras. I hope we could both get thru this pregnancy and deliver healthy babies! ♥♥♥
