I had an epidural with my 1st at 40 weeks I was 5ft 4in and 250lbs. I didnt have any issues and am planning on another epidural this time
I am 5'8 and weigh 250 this is my fourth child and never had an issue with the epidural.
I never heard of that. I was 230 my last pregnancy and had no problems with my epidural. My doctor and nurses never mentioned anything. My regular doctor didnt even ask if I was having an epidural at any point. They only asked at the hospital if I wanted to get it while in labor.
I had one no problem and I weighed 255.
I'm 5'9" and I weigh 270. They've never had an issue giving me my Epidural and I've had 3 babies. This will be my 4th.
I was plus size with my first and had an epidural. It took 3 tries but I think it was from me not arching my back correctly. I think if you have a good anesthesiologist then it shouldn't matter.
I'm a plus sized gal. 5'6" 224 before pregnancy 232 now at 32 weeks. I'm keeping my options open to see how I feel during labor. I'm glad you posted this. I never even thought about how there might be difficulties with a epidural since I'm heavier. I'm going to follow this thread. I'm curious to know what kind of information people post.
I don't really know if being overweight has increased the chances for missing or about the other options. But my friend just had her baby and they missed on the epidural and had to do it again. It was a pretty scary experience for them cuz the baby's heart rate and her heart rate dropped (not saying any of this to scare anyone) and she couldnt feel her legs for a while. They ended up causing a spinal tap instead of the intended epidural when they missed. Once she and the baby recovered and she wasn't dilating enough, she ended up having to get a c-section. They're both doing great now.
