I'm in the same boat. I'm just 37 weeks and can't sleep at all. My hips and back are in so much pain I can't lay down. Tried sleeping in the recliner but my 15month old gets up once or twice at night.
I got a pregnancy pillow too and I'm 35 weeks and still sleeping slightly on my back. My dr said as long as I stay slightly tilted I can go all 40 weeks this way.
It's the only way i can get comfortable enough to sleep and not wake up crying my hips hurt so bad.
Thanks for replying everyone, well I got my pregnancy pillow and although it isn't a miracle worker I am sleeping a bit more, don't think the full nights sleep will come back until baby is about 30 lol
I'm 31 +3 and been having problems sleeping for weeks now. Can't get comfy at all. On my back I can't breath, even if I'm tilted with a pillow. I have pillows behind back, under bump, between legs, and even when I am comfy I just can't drift off! Often I won't fall asleep till 3am, or if I fall asleep earlier I will be awake from 3/4am. It's so frustrating!
Thanks everyone I'm not a big fan of taking medication unless I really need to (have mind over matter attitude which doesn't tend to work in my favour lol) have tried the pillows between the legs, under the bump etc only way I am remotely comfortable is on my back which isn't really allowed this far on, have ordered myself a pregnancy pillow so fingers crossed! 7 weeks and counting to a different kind of sleepless night but I know I can get a full night with hubby here and baba in a different room lol
Before I got pregnant with my first. I was diagnosed with sleeping disorder. BC I was pregnant I stopped taking all my meds so I couldn't sleep even if I want to. Everytime I would fall asleep he would start kicking and exactly 5:30 every morning he would wake me up and start kicking like crazy. Not to mention I had severe heartburn.. I would lay on my side and put a pillow between my bed and my belly. That helped so much.
I'm in same boat I have a toddler who doesn't sleep through the night and extreme hip pain to top it off and now be insomnia has set in.
I found sleeping on my back with a baby blanket tilting me slightly to one side helps my hips feel better in the am.
My OB recommended benedryl for me or unison and either making my husband take be toddler for 24 hours so I can just sleep or asking family/fiends.
I'm taking Unisom - OTC, it was recommended to me by my OB. Just make sure IT IS THE RIGHT ONE that the ingredient is in the pregnancy category B. There are different types of Unisom with different ingredients.
