Maternity Jeans

Does anyone know what's up with the super high waistline on most maternity jeans? I just bought a pair yesterday, and the stretchy material literally goes all the way up to my bra!!! What's the point in this? Just curious. I always roll/fold it all the way down to my waist..

Once you get really big you'll need it to keep your pants up. They have other styles that dont have the high waist, but for me after I got to 28weeks I couldnt keep my pants from falling down.

I hear ya. Im at that awkward stage where regular jeans won't button but maternity pants are still too big. I had to wear some yesterday and omg it was so annoying!
But yeah, once you get bigger you will need them up that high! This is my 3rd baby and Im wearing maternity clothes sooner than with my last two.
I think Im just going to get stretchy waisted jeans. I saw a few at Wal-Mart for cheap.

Yep the super high waist is to keep the pants up once you get really big. With mine i would wear it belly up if I was out in public to keep them from sagging in the back but if I was just hanging around home I would roll it down and tuck it under my belly.

I've never liked those so I always get the low banded waist slacks and jeans. They have always worked great for me even at the end of pregnancy. They come up below your belly button and are a 2-3 inch thick elastic band at the top instead if the stretchy full tummy panel.

I used the below the waist maternity pants for that in between stage, but I quickly grew out of them.  Once I got too big, the pants wouldn't stay up and pushed on my bladder.  I am 21 weeks now and have been wearing the jeans with high waist band for about a month now...sooooo much more comfortable!

Thank you for all the feedback! I never wore them with my first but this time around, it seems a lot harder to fit into anything! I've gained less so far then with my first, but my belly seems to be shaped different. Like she's all at the bottom of me! I definitely agree on the stretchy pants. I've turned em into at home Pajama wear, to public wear. They're so comfortable! But I do see myself wearing the actual maternity jeans a lot more. Even though we're all pregnant, we still want to feel like ladies, wear jeans and look good! :)

I actually like the fact that they have a high waistline. My shirt will sometimes go up and if it wasnt for that cover I would be showing my stretch marks all the time. I also have had very invading friends where they've lifted up my shirt..thank god for that barrier

I'm still in my regular jeans, I'm 30 weeks. I just got the elastic belly belt extender. It adds mor cm to your waist of the jeans. Best thing I every bought.

I got mine from target. It's called belly belt. Has different sizes, and different clasps, also comes with material bits to hide belly when your zip slips.  I'm in Australia though so not sure where you would get one inthe US. Maybe eBay? Or try googling. Mine was around $25 so much cheaper than new pants....
