Are your children (expecting) biracial?? :-)

Mine are!!! And loving it!!!! My father is half mexican, half Caucasian. My mother is Caucasian. My husband is 200% pure mexican, he's actually very dark skinned, tall and has black hair (with some reddish tent to it) dark brown eyes and my lollipop lol (crazy me). My children are light skinned but have a coffee cream tan. Two look Caucasian, dirty blonde (a little darker). The other 3 have brown hair with a bit of a reddish glow to it. One has hazel eyes, 2 with honey brown and the other 2 with darker brown. Our first daughter passed away but she had red hair and green eyes. I have blue eyes, brunette with natural blonde highlights. When I look at my children, it just tickles my soul to see their features and how much they look like a mixture of us both, amazing!! My children are also bilingual, we speak Spanish and English to them but I also speak Portuguese to them (My adopted parents were from Brazil) What race are your children mixed with (or the baby your expecting)? What do they look like...share your stories ladies!!! :-) :-) :-)

Patty1848** I have spoken mainly only Spanish to my children from birth, I spoke words and sentences in Portuguese while they were very small. We rarely speak English to my children, especially never at home. My family especially my father's side also only speak Spanish to our children, so does my husband's family. We are strict about language in our home, it's not to be mean but actually are trying to prepare them for a great head start for a awesome future!! My oldest is just turned 7, he fluently speaks all three languages (Spanish, English and Portuguese) he also reads and writes them!! So does my soon to be 6 year old boy although he has trouble reading Portuguese (I won't pressure though), as his reading is important in English (because of school), he does okay reading Spanish, not perfect but learning. My 4 year and half son fluently speaks Spanish and English, he understands Portuguese but prefers not using it as much. He reads words in English and colors, animals..basics in Spanish. My almost 3 year old little girl fluently speaks Spanish, English and does better with Portuguese then I would have thought, she's confused at times. My 13 month old son understands Spanish and English, he's responding to certain Portuguese words. I simply stuck to a routine with each language, your case us much easier. But your husband will have to try and pinch in, I am thinking he only speaks English right!? Well teach him easy common phrases, I love you, are you hungry etc, ask he try using them (even if he's embarrassed lol). You only speak Spanish to your baby, let him try his new words etc. By a year with you only speaking Spanish, your husband speaking English with random Spanish words, your baby will understand more Spanish. Do not fall into the average "American" routine...letting their children only speak English. Continue your Spanish with your child, ask family to do the same. Your child will learn who to speak Spanish to and who to speak English to!!!!!! You can do it mija!!!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
