Baby Sleep Bags

I have a couple sleep bags for babys 0-6 months, two are summer ones at 1 tog and one is a winter one (living in Scotland it'll probably get used from October / November onwards).   Trying to find out what is better..... I'm a ftm so still getting used to a lot of things.   I've read some reviews that say just swaddle your baby for the first couple months, other reviews say cover them with a blanket until you put them in the sleep bag......any one know?     Bump i sdue in 10 days so trying to get my last few questions answered xx

How to describe it, its like a sack with straps (or dungarees but instead of two legs its closed off like a pillow) that the baby goes into to go to sleep, recommended by Midwives over here as they reduce the risk of cot death as baby can't shimmy down into them, cant pull them over their faces etc x
