Kidney dilation. not really a question.

Had my 28 week scan and my daughter's kidney still has dilation present :/ it can mean nothing or a lot according to dr Google. We won't know until they scam her at birth. I'm a bit worried and deflated.

On a positive note, her heart is strong and she is growing as per her gestational age - meaning that my diabetic diet and meds are working. Her head measures 2 weeks ahead but my son's did too. Just to make it harder for mama to squeeze out....

I'm going to write that down hon. Because this is the 2nd scan with same issue and dilation isn't getting any smaller, they don't believe that ir will resolve by birth. I'll find out more when i see the specialist tomorrow!

Not trying to scare anyone but please be persistent about testing SOON after birth. My son had Vesico-ureteral reflux, grade 4 affecting left ureter and kidney. His condition was not found until he developed meningitis at 2 mo and we almost lost him. We endured a long 10 mo until he was old enough for surgery at one year. A voiding Cysto-urethragram is the test to diagnose.  Best of luck to you ladies and as long as the conditions with kidneys are caught soon prognosis is great!

My sons were also dialated and he will be scanned at birth. Don't worry to much. I have been reassured that it will most likely be normal by birth and no issues

My son had dilated kidneys at our anatomy scan last week. 19 weeks. I was very concerned but the dr reassured me that it is the most common abnormality found in ultrasounds. His kidneys were only 2% dilated. Anyway, I hope everything turns out ok for you and baby.  Good luck!  :)
