who has gd?

Just got my test results for my 3 hr glucose online so I know I have it, now I have to wait til Monday for doctor to "confirm" it. What are the first steps the doctor took? Did he put you straight on meds or did he have you monitor. I will be 30 weeks tuesday and I feel as if he waited a long time to do the test to begin with, and now there isn't much time for the trial and error of what works with my body

I have it too. I was sent to dietician where they give you a meter and percription for strips to test your sugar four times a day and they will tell you what numbers you have to be below. Aldo they go over the whole diet with you. If diet alone doesnt keep sugars down then they add medication and or insulin. I am due the 13th and have been just on the diet since 26 weeks. The diet can be hard at times but its best for your baby! Good luck!

I was diagnosed  at 29 weeks when i knew due to family  history that i would  end up with it, but my doctor  still didn't test me any  earlier. Depending  on how bad you are is if you have to go on medication. I am regulating just fine with diet yet it is hard because  the diet that i am on you have to eat every  few hours. You should get diet and a meter  first to see if you need meds first. But if you are that bad  then they might just put you on insulin because  it is easier  to regulate then pills which take time to get the dosage right. Good luck!!

I got diagnosed a few weeks ago after telling them for the past 2 months to check. Anyway, they started just with diet and monitoring to see if that helped, then added medication. My blood sugars still haven't regulated so medication increases have been done, but I am hoping that they will find what works best for the remainder of the pregnancy so I can avoid insulin injections. The doctors told me that with regulation, the blood sugars should regulate and not cause issues for my little guy. He is already larger then he should be, but hope with diet and medication he won't hit the dreaded double digits before he makes his arrival. Hope that gives you a little more insight.
