Meh. I stopped checking after a few months honestly... (had the iud for about 5yrs!)  Mine were not soft cloth strings so there was no mistaking them. Not sure what they were made of, but they were pretty firm.

I read that after each menstrual you should check to be sure you can feel your strings, well, are the strings easily mistakened for the strings from a tampon?

I did not experience any side effects from Mirena, except for my period stopping completely after a handful of months.  No weight gain for me.

Does the Mirena cause weight gain like the Depo?

I had the Mirena iud and plan to go back to it. Personally from my experience with the iud I had no complications and I never got my menstrual cycle while being on it too! Once I decided to take the iud out I was pregnant within the month which normally never happens to people. The average person to get pregnant after the iud gets removed is approximately 2 or 3 months afterwards according to the doctor. However, everyone is different. Just something for you ladies to think about!

I'm planning on going back on the pill. It worked for years before trying for baby, so might as well stick with it!

Condoms for sure then the patch. I had thee worse experience with Mirena IUD as it got embedded into my cervix and had to get it surgically removed at the hospital. The dr even told me I might have a problem getting pregnant if my cervix was damaged. Thank God I was able to conceive and carrying now a baby girl 33 weeks strong!

IUD! We always did the "pull and pray" before trying for baby--now we're spoiled.

If I do it will either be condoms or the depo shot as I've had no issues with that & my doc recommended it bc I plan to nurse. He said no pills. Theret is also the non hormonal IUD bt I'm afraid for anything to be inside of me like that. It's suppose to act as an irritant & keep any fertilized eggs from implanting bt that sounds scary. I'm thinking. Wnt go back on anything until 10-12 wks pp.

I'm getting the iud after this one. I was on the pill when I got pregnant with this one and I stayed so moody and sick while on it.

I'm going with the Mirena iud as this is the 3rd time I've gotten pregnant while taking a birth control pill, and as much as I love kids I really don't want to have a 6th.

Thinking of getting my tubes tied, but if I get no because of my age then it'll be an IUD.

After the first couple of months I'm thinking about an IUD. It's highly effective and low maintenance.

Condoms! No need for any hormone pills when your body went through sooo much. At least not for a few months.

My midwife said estrogen gets into breast milk so if I wanted to go back on the pill it would have to be a progesterone only pill which are less effective. The other option she gave me is an iud so I think that'll be what I do. Seems easiest and most effective.
