Birthing/Exercise Ball

Has anyone tried using a birthing/exercise ball while in labor? I'm being induced Friday morning at exactly 39 weeks. And I'm trying to find alternative natural ways of relieving the contraction pains. I'm getting an epidural, but my doctor wants me to wait till I'm 4-5 cm dilated to get it. So I'd like to try different things to help while waiting for the medicine. Any other suggestions?

Ball was awesome! I was induced with my daughter used it for quite awhile, they gave me
some medication to relax me, before I knew it, it was "last call"(7cm) for the epidural and by the time I numbed up it was go time. Try the ball or I heard water helps too.

Wow you're superwoman! Lol I tried but felt like I just couldn't handle it anymore. The pain was SO intense! That's why I waited till 8cm to get the epidural. Which was pointless anyway because I waited so long, it didnt have time to work and I pushed her out shortly after. Feeling everything. It was horrible! I admire women that actually do it med free!

Didn't help me. It only made me feel more pressure. My only pain relief was walking. I made it through epidural free though :)
