Can an argument stop labor?

So.. I was having regular contractions, every 10, 8, 6 minutes.. But my husband, who is in a really fowl mood today, wanted to blame me on everything that was going on at home.
Now I'm not having contractions anymore. I still have very bad period like pain, but no contractions.
Could it be because of the argument?

Thanks in advance

Thank you ladies! I was feeling it was somehow my fault, but I feel a bit less guilty now

I agree, it's possible. Women's labor had been known to slow or stop once at the hospital which is believed to be from fear and stress.

I don't agree, stress can stop labour (up to a point),  which is why so many women labour well at home, then go to l&d and end up getting sent home again because everything has stopped.  Generally your body wants to feel like it's in a safe place before it has the baby.  Though it's not going to hang on forever obviously.
