Car seats expire?

I just read this - i thought i was all set on car seats from my older siblings, but the infant seat is 8 yearsold...
guess i'm getting new car seats :(

I thought I was all set, my parents have the complete series of car seats for when my nieces and nephews visit (they live overseas and don't have a car - so my parents had to buy them). But infant seat is 8 years old :(
i figure they are fine for occasional use, since they are stored a fairly constant temp - but I'll be getting new ones!

There's actually a sticker on them with the expiration date

Yeah thats why I would always go with new ones. You never know what its been through.

Yeah they sure do, and if they've been in any kind of accident you can't use them so good to know the history if you have to buy secondhand.

they seem to be good for 6-10 years from the date of manufacture. its because the plastic degrades over time and new regulations
