Cervical Loop

I had a loop surgery done a few years ago as I had some unusual cells discovered during a pap smear. I've been told to go see my OBN to make sure my cervics is ok? What does that even mean, ok for what? Labour? I'm 20 weeks this week & everything is fine. Has anyone else had a loop prior to having a bub. Scared now :-/

p.s. the doctor who did my procedure said it would NOT affect me being able to hold or carry a child.. which isn't 100% true, BUT luckily mine is still long & normal. just praying for good paps from now on! we'll be okay!!! ((:

awe, it's okay!! your cervix still may be long enough, if not the good news is there are steps you can take to help hold the baby in! you'll be fine, just pray it's okay, and if you need a little help, that's fine too!

the important thing is you're going & getting it checked out! (((: update me & let me know how it goes.. I was a nervous wreck last week too, but my fiance reassured me that it's just another "check up" that has to be done because of that procedure.. you'll be okay!! ((: you can probably find my post about it from last week, if not I'll message it to you. add me as a friend though, I'll keep up with you!!

I don't need shots or anything, so that's not particularly true for your situation. it all depends on the length of your cervix..

depensing on your particular situation, you could be perfectly fine like me, be put on bed rest, have to take progesterone shots, or have a stitch put in your cervix called a cerclege? not sure if spelled correctly, but just don't stress. they're there to help & just make sure your cervix is long & strong enough to support the baby! Thanks I'm going today just feel really nervous about it. I know that they said there was a risk of miscarriage but I figured that was in the early stages so stopped worrying. Now I'm freaking out :-(

No need to freak out they will measure ur cervix and most likely start u on progesterone shots every week. I had a preemie last pregnancy and with this one my cervix started opening at 22 weeks now im 38 weeks so im good to go but I won't have any more because of it and already having issues with preterm labor

I think you mean the LEEP procedure? I had it done November of 2012, and my OB thought my cervix was a little small/short..

I went to see a specialist last Tuesday, they did an ultrasound, and they determined my cervix is perfectly normal.. almost 4cm.

the reason they want you to get checked is because when you have any surgery done to your cervix ir can weaken, and in some cases it causes an incompetent cervix... BASICALLY you need to make sure you don't go into preterm labor & deliver too early OR miscarry..

I'd suggest going asap, the longer you wait, the more weight the baby puts on your cervix.. good luck, and I'm sure you're fine. they do it to be cautious.. I barely had a tiny piece of my cervix cut off during my procedure, AND my last 2 pap smears have been normal.. after having the cryotherapy procedure done also. (((:

Im suppose to have one after this pregnancy and basically because of the surgery ur cervix is shorter which might make it harder to go full term. U should schedule something soon cuz u might have to take shots to help with ur cervix
