Chronic health issues/diseases? Do any ladies have any while pregnant?

At age 15 i was diagnosed with kidney reflux, age 17 I was diagnosed with carpel tunnel, myofacial pain syndrome, & fibromyalgia. Then age 21 back spasms. Ladies I'm in constant pain, my limb swell on a daily basis and most days I can't even walk. Do any of you all deal with chronic illnesses? All mine have flared this pregnancy.

I have pseudo tumor ceribri, my body mimics the effects of a brain/spinal tumor and a few others that are triggered by it. I have been fortunate this pregnancy, but my last was miserable! Some days I was unable to be vertical or even open my eyes. This pregnancy I am medication free and aside from a minor headache here and there have had no issues.

I have ankylosing spondilitis and thats where my spine is fusing. Its in my lower back and there are a few vertibre that are fused pretty well now. I'm 28 years old with my first pregnancy, currently 37 week, and completely unable to move without being in terrible pain. Work completely kicked me out and I'm stuck in bed most of my day, and need my boyfriends help to walk to the restroom, which is around the corner of my bedroom. Its sad, and embarrassing, I've always been SO independant and could fight through the pain, but now I'm dealing with constant back to back contractions and the back pain, its just not fun.

so I was taking 2,000 mg a day - don't miss it at all! lol I never had any side effects though, which is GREAT for me, because I've had some crazy ones!!

I used to take Singulair.. it made the soles of my feet bleed! I'm telling you.. I've had horrible luck with medications too!!!! lol

thank you, I'm excited to have a break from it too!

I'm currently NOT taking anything for my UC! since getting pregnant there's been no need.. I've had no flare ups, no nothing. before pregnancy, I was taking Pentasa - 500mg capsules - 8 a day. so I'd take 4 around lunch, 4 around supper time. I can't swallow pills though, so I'd open the capsules & swallow the beads with something to drink (never chewed them).

my gastro doctor could never say whether or not they were doing me any good that way, but I felt as if they were.. and I've choked on a pill before & I have a HUGE fear now - I REFUSE to swallow pills!!! lol Pentasa worked for me though, as far as I'm concerned. my doctor is actually retiring though, so whoever I see next I may ask if it's helping or hurting to take them that way and if there's any other option..

there's some sort of mixture available (I think in Austrailia) that you can put in your drink to take, but I don't think it's in the U.S. yet! "/

Posted to soon, meant while not pregnant...  I'm always curious what works for others as I have been on a ridiculous amount of meds, including drug studies.  :-)

That is awesome you are doing so great with ulcerative colitis! I'm on Remicade for mine, it is literally the only drug that has ever put me in remission. If you don't mind me asking what are you on for your UC while pregnant?

I also have Ulcerative Colitis (a colon disease).. I was diagnosed in 2010 a month or so before my 22nd birthday.

LUCKILY, pregnancy.. for some reason.. tends to decrease symptoms and/or flare ups of the disease! my OB told me this, and of course I didn't believe her.. but I've only had ONE flare up since pregnancy & it was because of something that I shouldn't have eaten. other than that, I've felt great & I've not had to take my medication. praying it stays this way after I deliver!!

I also got down to about 95 lbs., one medication I used for a few days tried to shut down my kidneys.. I would pee blood, cry from back pain, awful.. my doctor thought I was crazy & I demanded to be put on something else, ugh.. chronic diseases are a PAIN.. no pun intended, and I pray for relief for all of us!!! I have had ulcerative colitis and chronic migraines since the age of twelve, so  17 years now. Luckily my meds help with my uc. Migraines are always crappy in the beginning for me then ease up as I progress. When I had twins my first pregnancy we had preemies due to being twins and a flare. Last pregnancywas great, this one is okay so far. I have had quite a few miscarriages due to health issues. I am fine a long as I have my meds my doc won't risk a flare I've nearly died from a horrible UC flare, dropped down to 98lbs and yeah.... It was bad.  I just don't take anything pain related, just tolerate the flares. Pregnancy as of lately actually make me feel good chronic illness wise. Hippie you feel better soon.
