Circumcision

Moms who already have boys, did you or dad get to see the procedure being performed? Any bad experiences? Or suggestions on which method was used for your child. I'm still very undecided but father wants it done. I have less than 30 days to decide

I am a first time mum to be but witnessed my nephews circumcisions. I know the Jews do it best, (my opinion). It is done by using a blade(don't know what it's called). It is used to cut off the extra skin at the tip of the penis. After it has been cut off, a plastic ring is put to form a crown. The Rabbi then puts a dressing afterwards. Don't freak out when you see the blood please. A vaseline is applied around the penis and the dressing. It is put to ease discomfort when baby pees, it depends on how you are told to dress the penis though. 'Circumcision helps maintain a clean penis'(my opinion). It was done within 7 days of birth. My siblings never left it for long. As a mother, you might not want to watch. You might need someone else to be there with you when it's been done. My sister cried the 2 times we went there, I stood to watch. Not a bad thing. I wish you and baby good luck. I hope this helps being my first comment/post.

Also much better when they are younger, they heal much faster and feel less pain.

Dad went, he said our son didn't cry. No problems at all. You put Neosporin then some gauze so it heals faster and doesn't stick to the diaper. I was for it my husband said he wanted it done also for the fact that he himself had his circumsized. It's a personal decision. My friend didn't circumsise either of her sons (2), son 1 was fine no complications-he's 20 now. Son 2- didn't have a circumcision either but when he was older he got severe infections on his penis. You have to teach them to pull back the for skin so it can be cleaned. If you've seen an uncircumcised penis you will understand. Unfortunately for son 2 because he had so many repeat infections at the age of 6 he had to get a circumcision.
