Contraction vs Braxton Hicks

Hey guys!  I'm almost 37 weeks and have been getting stomach pains.  I'm a FTM but just curious.  The pain is either at the top of my uterus, right at the top of the bump and sometimes shoots around the bump or menstrual like cramps.  It happened a bunch of times at work today.   I assume it's Braxton Hicks but they are painful. .  Maybe contractions?

Real contractions keep coming at a regular rate & will begin to intensify as labor progresses . You will know the difference . Braxton are irregular contractions

I asked my doctor if bhc are suppose to hurt and he said they can be painful and to just drink cold water and lay down. Now if they happen 4x in an hr then call your provider. This is exactly what he told me hope this helps, I've felt them very painful and water and laying down and breathing through them helps.

Could be contractions braxton hicks are not suppose to hurt. But pain at the top of bump could be something with the placenta so if it were me I'd let my Dr asap.
