Controversial subject! Alcohol and pregnancy!

Now first and foremost Im gathering opinions! Claws in! Lol

Ok, so Im a wine drinker.  I haven't actually had any since I found out I was pregnant.
My doctor told me the last time I was pregnant that a glass of wine with dinner is harmless. She even told me that "light drinking" during pregnancy is fine. But since everyone has a different opinion of what light means they tell you just not to.
No judgement from me, but does anyone indulge in a glass of wine or a beer now and again? I don't mention liquor for obvious reasons lol
Usually the general consensus is "its bad don't do it".  So is smoking but I always see women smoking while pregnant. My doctor said she'd so much rather see someone drink a glass of wine before smoking a cigarette while pregnant. I find this rather confusing!
How do you feel about light drinking in pregnancy?
Im not so much of a wine drinker I cant wait 9mths,I guess. Im running into a problem though ...I haven't told family yet. My family is big on social drinking and I usually never turn down a glass or two.lol they're gonna suspect something soo . Ha ha
Again, I cannot stress enough that Im just curious and this isn't intended to cause fights!

I've had three children with 3 different doctors and have always been told that no amount is safe. I've also cared for children with FAS and I would never risk it. 9 months is such a short time in the grand scheme of things and to me it seems selfish. Also the effects of drinking during pregnancy don't have to be extreme. They can be something minor like a slightly lower IQ or added difficulty learning. I personal don't want to wonder would my child be having an easier time in school if only I hadn't had that drink.

Pregnancy is a great opportunity to detox and learn other stress reducing techniques. I know women who have had a light beer or small glass of wine with dinner while pregnant and their babies are fine. Ive also met children with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and it's so sad... My personal opinion is what's the point in risking it when it's unnecessary.

I'm glad this question was proposed. Although I am not 25+ I find this forum to be a lot more helpful for me. I will be turning 21 next month and I want to have a glass of wine. I will be 18.5 weeks so all of my baby's vital organ have developed just maturing. What do you all suggest?

I'm planning on having a glass of watered down wine at christmas because I'll be pregnant then and everyone else will be drinking. But otherwise I stay away from alcohol while pregnant.
