Dealing with a death in the family at 38weeks

Hi ladies,

Just wondering if anyone else has had to deal with a death in the family while pregnant.
I'm 38+4 weeks and my brother in law passed away last night. Its absolutely devastating. His heart just stopped.
How do you deal with this stress? I can't sleep, I try but my mind is reeling.
Should I be calling my doctor to talk about this and the possible stress on the baby?

My mother in law passed suddenly when I was 39 weeks with baby #2. To say it was stressful is an understatement. While it's obviously ok to mourn the loss of a loved one, it is more important to celebrate their life and remember the happy times. I'm sure that's what he would want for his family. Talk about the good memories, cry, and then get ready for the birth of your baby. It will be a crazy emotional time, but once you have another person to take care of, you can't sit around being sad anymore. And it will get easier. Concentrate on the good things in your life, especially the impending arrival of your new baby!
