Delivery

So soon I'll be giving birth (48 days) left :D& i was wondering if I could drink tea to help me relax during labor . I have bad anxiety so I don't wanna feel all crazy & stuff In the moment just chilled out & focus on my breathing techniques to help cope with the pain. Some women drink water so is tea acceptable?

One reason they say no eating and drinking is because our digestive system slows when we are in labor. So therefore it comes back up most of the time. Tea probably will probably not be recommended. I ate alot of ice chips with my first and ended up throwing it all up because my body would not digest it. Ice is mainly to be used to water down the mouth.

They tell you not to eat or drink anything in case you need a c section but this is backwards and can cause a c section as you become low on real energy you get from food and drink. I was drinking things when I was in labor with my first every time they left the room because I was feeling dehydrated (and the iv they give is bs- it does not hydrate in a natural way). You don't have to do everything they tell you to. I personally will be refusing to do a lot of what they "require" normally because I listen to my body in labor and do what comes naturally in order to manage my pain and give myself energy. You can sign waivers for whatever you want to refuse. They won't send you to the street to have your baby. Just be strong and have your so stand up for you too!
