sure you could try to negotiate some other way to take that test but ultimately that's what you're doing taking that test just a different variation.

I didn't want to do the tests at first because I kinda knew I wouldn't have gd. but you never know and I'm very glad I did it. people overexaggerate that test. it was no big deal and I haven't experienced or heard anyone experiencing complications. there is more risk in not getting checked

I've never heard of the test harming anyone or their baby but if left untreated it could seriously harm your baby if not kill them and make you very sick. All you do is drink a drink and they draw your blood. You have to do blood work at the beginning of pregnancy so its not any worse than that. Also if you don't do the test some drs may choose to drop you as a patient because of the potential risk.

Please don't refuse because if u don't take it and your numbers are out of control you can risk the chance if having a still birth.

You cannot be forced to complete anything to your body that you don't want to complete. There are several reasons why some people would refuse it. It involves drinking 50 grams of a glucose solution. First, there is no situation during pregnancy in which I would ever consume that much sugar/carbohydrates in one sitting, so the test is not accurate for me. There is a risk of false positive, which leads to another, longer test. I would ask what other options are possible where maybe you could test yourself during the week. People need to do some research and educate themselves and not just blindly do everything that the "experts" tell you to do for the "safety" of your baby.

I did it with my first but not my last or this time. I actually am almost 29 weeks and havent been checked since 26 weeks and will call to schedule another apt. For about 33-34 weeks. My Hubby is old School and we have avoided the doctor and hospital at all costs lately with the entrovirus and the bad flu that is going around here. I would go in a heartbeat if I felt even slightly off. But slot far so good. :-)

The test is just to make sure everything is alright. I have the weakest stomach in the world, it was so bad that when I did it the drink kept coming up but I would do anything to make sure my baby is ok and that's what pushed me through it. I do have gestational diabetes and was placed on a special diet but nothing major. I would say go for it for you and the baby sake :-) good luck mommy

If you are worried about the solution they have you drink, which is a viable concern, there are other options. I would suggest you talk to your doctor about it before hand and reach a compromise. Some moms have eaten jelly beans or a candy bar.

It may depend on your insurance.  I declined taking the prenatal nutrition class (I'm a nutritionist and I do this all day). They said that's fine but the glucose test was mandatory. There's no reason not to take it. It's only going to protect you and baby.

from what I've seen some of these tests are not compulsory and only conducted with your consent.
but it's all for the baby's well being. why wouldn't you take it?!
