Confused. Please help.

I got a positive home pregnancy test a week and a half ago and also had it confirmed through a blood test by my doctor.  I had a scan today and it was confirmed that I am 4 weeks pregnant. How did I get a positive home pregnancy test at 2 and a half weeks. Is that even possible? I'm so worried that the baby has stopped growing at 4 weeks. I haven't had any abdominal pains or bleeding.

Just wanted to update everyone that kindly messaged me.
I went for another scan today and all is fine. I'm actually 7 weeks and 3 days today so a week and an half further than I was told 2 weeks ago. I got to see the little heartbeat which melted my heart. I'm so relieved.

Im in the same boat hun thought i was 7 weeks but blood confirmation came out at 4 weeks dr said im just rellay early and since my perioads have been out of wack since stopping birth control 7 months ago they cant really pin point my due date or exactly how far along i am . I have been going in for blood draws every 2 days and my dr will tell me results when i see her tomorrow she is also going to set up an ultrasound for 3 weeks from now and that should tell me exactly how far along i am and when our exact due xate is.

There was something to see on the scan but she said I wasn't far enough along for there to be a heartbeat so asked me to go back 2 weeks later. On the scan you could only see the sac and yolk. She didn't seem worried by anything and said everything else looked perfect. I just worried because of her saying I was only 4 weeks, yet I got the positive 1.5 weeks before that. Didn't make sense to me.

2.5 weeks pregnant. I went for a scan and was told I'm only 4 weeks pregnant but I got a positive test 1.5 weeks before I had the scan. I don't know when I ovulated because my cycle has been all over the place.

If you were "4 weeks pregnant" at the scan that means you conceived/ovulated 2 weeks prior to the scan.  So yeah, to have got a positive at "2.5 weeks pregnant" (which is only 3-4 days after ovulation) is basically impossible.  The ladies above talking about get a result after a week or 10 days mean they got their result a week or 10 days *after ovulation* - not a "week/10 days pregnant" (you haven't even conceived when you're "10 days pregnant").

Having said all that, at "4 weeks pregnant" there would have been nothing to see on a scan, so I'm guessing when your doctor said 4 weeks, he meant you had conceived 4 weeks earlier, which means you were "6 weeks pregnant" and you got your positive at "4.5 weeks" pregnant, which is normal.

Just curious when you said you got your positive test "at 2.5 weeks", did you mean 2.5 weeks after ovulation (which would be completely normal) or at '2.5 weeks pregnant' (which would actually only be 3-4 days after ovulation, and definitely not normal).

They say u can ovulat late. I took a digital pregnancy test that gave me a 2 to 3 weeks then according to the paper meant I was pregnant longer. When I got a sonogram at what I thought I was 12 weeks the baby measured only 10 weeks. I'm now 15 weeks and just found out I'm having a boy. So maybe u just ovulated late. Baby is growing. This is my first and I have been the biggest worry wart I know of. I Google everything and used this blog thing which helped me. Everyone says don't stress!lol easier said then done

I know my ovulation date and when we conceived for all three pregnancy and my OB is shocked I get positive tests less than a week later (10days before my missed period) some of us  just find out super early.

I tested positive 2 weeks post ovulation with a bright, dark line (though considered 4 weeks because they count from your last period) so it is definitely possible! :-)

I had a positive result at barely 3 weeks. Also keep in mind doctors always go off your last period as a conception date. If you know your body you might have a more accurate conception date.

Thank you for replying.  You've relaxed me knowing you got a positive result at 10 days.

Pregancy tests can work from really early on. I was only 10 days when I got a positive reading. If you're not cramping or bleeding then I'm sure everything is fine. Don't stress yourself out. You'll probably start feelinf sick by week 6 so just enjoy these early stages & be excited. Better to think the best than focus on the worst.
