Well if your emotions disturb the baby you would feel it. If you got emotional and baby was doing somersaults every time it happened, then your stress levels would be too high. Of course, if you think about it, baby follows their own patterns. You cry because your hormones are high. That's normal. Especially toward the end. If you are crying because of prenatal depression and you feel low and other signs of depression, I urge you to bring it up with your doctor. Depression could have an effect and the doctor would have some ideas on ways to treat that. If that's not the case, perhaps chalk it up to hormones and don't let anyone make you feel bad about it.
As for old wives tales, look up all the signs of having boy or girl and see how conflicting they are. That should show that even if your baby does cry a lot, its not likely because you cried during pregnancy. Babies cry. Old wives tales are fun but not fact.

Thats not true. I cried a heck of alot during my first pregnancy due to stress and strain from mine and my partners relationship and my son didn't cry excessively at all. Hormones play a massive part in your emotions. Its like being on a roller coaster. Dont worry to much. If you have the need to cry just do it. Sometimes I feel better after a good old cry x

I'm so angry at everything! Lol I sure hope that's not true cuz I don't want my son to be angry all the time. Pretty much everything and everyone gets on my nerves bad!! Lol it gets on my nerves how annoyed and angry I am all the time lol

It's probably an old wives tale. I've not heard it before though. It's totally normal to be emotional during pregnancy and you may find the crying desire goes away the farther into the pregnancy you are. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. :)
