Warm milk and bananas. Dried prunes,  papaya and jesuits tea have worked for me. I tried the colace, the metamucil ate yoghurt like a nut tried senna and nothing. My dr gave me dulcolax suppositories, they helped for a bit and then I was backed up again. The Jesuits tea worked but check in withyour dr to see if you can take it. I was cleared after the 2nd trimester.

It's most likely your iron supplements causing the constipation. You should increase your water intake. Green leafy veggies, broccoli, an apples have lots of fiber. I would also talk to your doctor about switching your prenatal vitamins to something that has a still softener in it. The prenatal bits that I take are called Citranatal 90 DHA and it's plant based and has a stool softener already added in so I luckily didn't experience much constipation during my pregnancy.

I keep seeing people mention watermelon, but it's out of season...  I might have to go against my better judgment and hunt some down, lol.  I plan on starting to walk regularly after my last final tomorrow.  I was thinking about making a broccoli quiche later (because I have weird food cravings), so maybe that will help...  It's just terrible!  Cruel and unusual, Mother Nature.

Thanks ladies!

I was constipated up until 13 weeks and now I'm going pretty normally. I switched to taking 2 Flintstones vitamins everyday instead of the regular prenatal vitamins. Less iron makes a big difference!

I started eating fiber one cereal every day and adding more fiber to my diet. Also tons of water and an occasional colace.. after over a month I'm finally better! 20 weeks now and hopefully it doesn't return! Good luck

It should. You've probably tried lots of things, but just suggestions I've seen. Watermelon works wonders. Go for a walk. Skip your prenatal for a day or two, but eat healthy of course. A warm bath. Stay away of red meat and dairy, May help. Good luck!
