Were i live u can apply for tanf when u turn 7 months but thats wat he told me that child support will go after him..
Www.edd.can.gov just fill out the questions they ask u u probably won't get it for a few weeks they telephone interview u and just ask u questions like what happened then every 2 weeks u have to fill out paper work and mail it back if u worked any hours just go on the web site it pretty much explains it to u
Most states require the child to be born in order to receive TANF, other states allow pregnant women in their 3rd trimester. Check with the eligibility requirements depending on where you live. Where I live, Arizona, they require the child to be born and you have to cooperate with child support and jobs. He doesn't want you to apply because any money you receive they will go after him for. Be careful when getting cash assistance though. You are limited to 60 months of TANF in a lifetime and each state has their own state benefit limits-- Arizona is 24 and California is 48. I think New Mexico is 36. You also need to be aware of the welfare reform act too. In 1995, Bill Clinton signed the welfare reform act (limiting the number of months of cash people can get), in addition to that they have something called a Family Benefit Cap Period of 5 years-- meaning any children you have within those 5 years you could potentially never receive cash assistance for. The purpose is to make people accountable for their own families and not see having children as just a pay check (which is what soo many women did). Iknow a lot about state and federal policy when it comes to TANF. My career, as of now, is processing eligibility for Medicaid, food snaps, and TANF. TANF is my speciality and I'm the cash expert in the office. I have to explain these things to clients all the time.
I forgot all about unemployment..how does that work?

Does your b/f work she should be helping u do all u can to get gov assistance. Take advantage while u can
Everyone was telling me to apply while the gov is offering it but me nd my boyfriend doesnt live together either but were both getting things for the baby nd he already has a pack n play
I work full time and I still applied for assistance because I don't make enough with paying for my rent, car, insurance, and student loans and everything else. My boyfriend does what he can but we don't live together so he has all of his bills and makes less than I do working more hours than me. It's okay to ask for assistance when you need it. That's why it's there.
He's a good boyfriend nd father to his child but it was just tanf that wasnt making sense to me
I applied for wic nd signed up two weeks ago nd its helps even more with foodstamps
You need to apply for assistance, and when baby is born you need to file child support.
Unless he is supporting you financially go get it if you feel you need it. And get Wic also if you are in the states. It will help tremendously with food.
