Ultrasound and gender

I had an ultrasound at 12 weeks and the doctor got a great shot at between the legs but said there was nothing there. I kept quite and didn't ask if that means it's a girl and now I keep thinking about it and wish I had asked. would there be a penis there so early or are boy and girls have nothing at this time? I tried to read up on it but all I get is that both gender DO have something there lol. Any help here?

I wanted the tech to guess the gender at 13 weeks but she didn't feel comfortable with it. I found out at15 weeks and 5 days that it was a girl.  II'd give it a few more weeks before you have your heart set on a gender.

I asked my us tech if she would guess with this one at 12weeks some days and she wouldn't even guess cuz she said boy & girl parts look about the same that early I wouldn't buy any blue or pink until next us good luck

Yes boys do tend to develop that early but could develop as late as 18 weeks i would wait till then to get a gender check
