I had an epidural with my first. Never again. I felt everything except contractions. After delivery the nurse had to give me the legal maximum of lidocaine to stitch my perineum and it was still uncomfortable for me.
Going to have to try a different medicine of some kind for this little one, but at this point, I'm doubtful they even have anything strong enough.
All throughout my pregnancy I swore I'd do everything 'naturally' without any drugs or 'medical' interference. Now I'm 33weeks and it's 90% chance I'll need a cesarean to get bub out safely (for a few reasons). The whole idea of a medical procedure, scary (gulp) surgery, really really freaked me out! But now that 'my way' is off the table I've been reading a whole lot and now I'm not opposed to drugs (for my sake). My only concern is a groggy, drugged-up-to-the-eyeballs newborn, which i don't want at all! So I'm all in, just as long as it doesn't affect my lil girl :) that's my concern
This is my first also. I plan on going without drugs as long as possible. I don't want the epidural at all. If I can't take the pain then I'll get some IV drugs to take the edge off so hopefully that will work. Try not to feel pressured either way. It's your decision. Good luck to you!
If it was truly harmful for the baby the doctors wouldn't offer it. As far as I'm concerned load me up! I have nothing to prove, why suffer the pain off you don't have to.
Im still really undecided on this. Lol
Hi! My respects completely to the mother's who can bare natural childbirth. Some say it's not as bad but their pain tolerance must be pretty great. This is my third and it's been six years since I had my last child. Both have been vaginal deliveries and with epidural. I've only been in labor 8 hrs (I just start pushing and it's like their in a water slide- 3-5 pushes and out). I truly hope this pregnancy is similar and I'm planning to do the same. I'm a complete wuss for pain. I just wanted to share, but my point is go with what feels natural and comfortable to your body. I've heard pain varies from pregnancy so while one may not be too strong the next one can be stronger. Keep your options open. Hope I could help in some way. Best luck to everyone. ;)
I'm going for vbac and am asking for epi. I am gonna try to hold out as long as I can though.
This is my 5th pregnancy and my first was with an epidural and the rest have been natural! I love natural and it's really not as bad as everyone says it is...it just really depends on your level of pain tolerance..
Hey, this is my 3rd pregnancy too. My first pregnancy I had an epidural n my 2nd I did it natural n I'm thinking I might get a epidural this time lol. It really all depends on u, try to go natural. Hope u have a good labor n good luck.
