My doctor measured growth at my 8 week ultrasound. They will compare growth with lmp and talk to you about it to make it as accurate as possible. Good luck!! And congratulations :)
They give you a due date from the ultrasound, when the measure the fetal growth
When u get ur first ultasound thet will b able to give u a more accurate due date. It may change.
Just tell them you had irregular periods and when you werr ovulating and when you conceived.... they will do an ultrasound and give you the exact date... same thing happened to me when I was pregnant with my first... I had a 45 day cycle... I used ovulation strips that told me I ovulated on day 25 and due to circumstances (was a military wife) there was only 2 possible dates of conception. Feb 7th or 8th... the first doctor didnt listen to me at all and actually told me it was impossible to have w cycle more than 28 days AND I must have miscalculated and gave me a due date that was 10 days earlier (Oct. 22).. they did an ultrasound and pushed the due date back to (Nov. 1)... I switched doctors and my 2nd ob-- LOVED her... she actually listened to me... she knew I had planned th e pregnancy and I told her about the ovulation strips and the 2 possible conception dates because of the circumstances and she told me based on my LMP due date was Oct 23rd... BUT based on what I said due date was Oct.31/Nov. 1 and did the ultrasound and said she was due Oct. 31 st and couldn't understand why the 1st ob wouldn't listen since I obviously knew what was going on with my body and planned the pregnancy
Thanks ladies! I kind of wish I didn't find out so early! I'm terrible at waiting to announce lol. I didn't get my first Ultrasound with my first until 13 weeks so I guess I'll find out then!
I can't belive your doctor treated you that way! And what kind of OB says it's impossible to have not than a 28 day cycle?! Scary!
Thanks for the input ladies.
I just had an vaginal ultrasound yesterday... according to my lmp I am 8 weeks but the ultrasound measures 6 weeks 6 days. So when you have your ultrasound you'll get a more solid due date.
Most doctors don't go by LMP cause it's an accurate date. They will normally go by the first ultrasound measurements of baby, those are the most accurate. Also don't worry if you end up with multiple due dates as I did. They had three for me until they decided to stick with June 21st :) it can be frustrating!!
Some drs will only go by your LMP... But most will take into consideration that not everyone has a "normal" cycle of 28 days and will normally adjust the due date according to an ultrasound. My Dr always does because my cycles are irregular and longer. Hopefully you Dr is that way and listens to you.
That's why my doctor did not go by LMP because I don't have a 28 day cycle. That's why she went with the first ultrasound, like most doctors do!
I am 18 and have an 8 month old son. I found out i was pregnant with my 2nd child May 13,2015 and my last period was April 10, 2015. i have irregular periods so i don't know when i conceived or how many weeks i am. I've had 3 ultrasounds done and my last ultrasound was 2 days ago and still no yolk sac or fetal pole but only a gestational sac developed and my hcg levels did not double within a few days but went up and i'm at 30,000 today. My doctor said its either a molar pregnancy or blighted ovum and that i need to go this monday to take care of it but i'm still hoping for a miracle. Is it possible i could still be early? with my last baby my lmc was jan.15 and found out i was pregnant may.3 and seen baby may 13 on ultrasound. i keep thinking maybe it's still slowly developing but I'm not sure :(
