any advice

So,  I need advice.  I just found out I'm pregnant and it wasn't exactly planned.  I'm beyond excited and grateful though... however,  I smoke.  The plan was to quit before we tried to have a baby. I have significantly reduced what I smoke but I'm scared that quitting cold turkey will put my body into shock. Please any advice to help me quit. Please... only advice. I can't handle judgement or mean comments right now. It's been a rough few days... thanks in advice.

My friend was a smoker when she found out she was pregnant. Then she got a vaporizer and that helped her quit. Good luck, you can do it!

Contact your local health department they may offer stop smoking classes. I am in ky and they offer the Cooper Clayton method to quitting. It is free. My dr also said it was safe to use the patch, gum or lozenges to help. Good luck. I am in the same boat as you.

Every time you take a drag of a fag makes it unbelievably difficult for your Un born baby to breathe. as soon as I took the pregnancy test I stopped your body will not go into shock it's an addiction but your body doesn't need it your mind does. 23 weeks Without a cigarette and feeling fantastic, skin is better I feel better and I have more money to spend on the baby.

I believe a lot in the power of your own will and mindset.
If you truly want to stop, then you will find the strength to do so.
You are in control, the cigarettes or your body's addiction does not control you.
You can work through it, you only need to visualize yourself winning instead of failing.
People overcome smoking with much less things on stake.
You might not want to hear the negative side, but there is only negative sides with smoking.
Esspecially when pregnant.

Imagine the lifelong guilt you would feel if you do not succeed and if something would go wrong with your child?
It would be a daily reminder and no way of avoiding it or taking it back..
No, this is not a pleasant thought, but you need to be hard on this point and put down the cigarrette for good (or atleast 9months to come).

Good luck!
I truly hope you succeed and that you have a happy healthy baby! <3
Congratulations as well :)

You may quit on your own. When I found out I was pregnant which was at 5 weeks I smoked for one more week and then list the urge to smoke completely. Cigarettes actually irritated me. So just give it a try. I can't say I didn't want to smoke because I did I think my baby just wasn't having it. Good luck

i know a few chain smokers that quit as soon as they found out. Just think you are doing it for your babys health. Sure some people will tell you they smoked and baby was fine, but not all are that lucky. I worked with a girl who was not so lucky and she was lying to her husband about not smoking during entire pregnancy. so sad. Just think it's only 9 or so months and that little bundle of joy will thank you for it later!

I quit when I found out and by the time u see a doc they will tell u to cut back until u have completely quit! At least that's what they told me with both my pregnancies!  Also no bashing cause we all have life's before we got pregnant!  Good thing is that u can quit and when and if u smoke again u know it's possible!  Some ladies r on here at 34 wks still trying to quit! So i think u will be fine! Also congrats on ur pregnancy!  It gets easier and then twards the end harder but not for the smoking just from being pregnant all together!  Lol

Pregnancy hormones will make quitting easier than it would have been otherwise. I was in the same situation first time around and I've been smoke free ever since :)

Your body won't go into shock. You may get very irritable and may get cold like symptoms as you begin coughing.  The minute you stop smoking your lungs will begin to heal themselves. In doing this you will cough up lots of phlegm. After a few weeks you will feel better. You can do this!!!:)
