midwive vs. obgyn???

I am almost 18 weeks, and every time when I see my obgyn I feel so rushed. So now I am thinking about using midwives instead. How was your experience with both dr. And midwives? Which one did you like better?

I use a midwife at a free-standing birth center and love it. They book a full hour for each appt and use the whole time to answer questions and check on baby. They're not technically connected to a hospital, there is a hospital only a few minutes away and the obgyn and the nurse midwife there always back them up if they need to transport.

Look at your options and interview several different places. You want a care provider that is comfortable and will fight for you if things get tough!

Almost all the practices near where I live have morethan 2 pproviders, so whoever's on call will deliver your baby.  The practice i have been going to has 3 drs. I didn't like 2 of them since I feel rushed all the time. But then I won't know who is going to deliver my baby until the last day which I don't feel comfortable. I rather not to gamble on that.

I recently switched from a doc to a certified nurse midwife.  I feel like my midwife takes more time to answer my questions and is way more open to listening and addressing my questions and concerns. I switched from doc to midwife at 15 weeks.

I see a midwife who works at a clinic with two obgyns. I love that I have her most, but because I'm having twins I may need the ob if they aren't positioned correctly. I saw the midwife at my first appointment, then an ob at my second and third appointments so everyone has seen me. now I will only see midwife until closer to birth when we may have to consult obs.
I like it done this way because I will still be delivered by someone I've seen before and is familiar with my case should anything happen.

That's what i am worried about as well. I was very upset after my last appt because he didnt even spend more than 2 minutes with me during my appt.

I've had both and it can go either way... i think it has less to do with their title and more to do with their overall bedside manner and personality.
My current ob is amazing. I never feel rushed at all.. If anything it seems like I'm the one trying to rush out. The midwife I had for my last 2 pregnancies was great for labor but not for the prenatal appointments..
since you still have plenty of time,  I'd call a few different places and see which seems to click with you best. If you don't have any personal referrals,  you can always check yelp reviews as a starting point.

My dr was a jerk and tired to rush my labor too. He induced me and wanted to do csesction bc taking too long and he was getting off work soon. I refused to allow it bc if theres no risk y not have it normal. I told him he can go hm and leave me witg another dr. He did. I had my daughter naturrally two hrs later, that sub dr was so.nice and patient. I recommend switching ob dr. I dont know much about midwives
