Finishing work early

Hi girls, Im 12 weeks and work as a carer in a nursing home in Darwin Australia, it's 34 degrees most days and there is no aircon. it's very physical work and a couple of times I've felt like fainting. I'm also surrounded by infections and disease in our patients. I feel like I will only make 20 weeks before I have to finish up, is anyone else in a similar job or left work early? I'd love to leave and get another job but who's going to employ a pregnant woman:(

I worked as a maid cleaning houses and its also very physical work and there was a lot of chemicals involved. I waited too late to find another job and it ***** soooo bad to be stuck in the house. I cant find another job cause like you said, no one will hire a pregnant lady! So my advice, if you dont love your job, get out now while you can and find another job lol

Your doctor could give you a medical leave due to high risk work conditions. In some countries the law forces the employer to protect you or give you paid leave. You need to find out what your rights are and talk to your doctor and your boss, there must be a solution.

I work with illegal immigrants all day long. So many of them have deseases but once I told my boss that I was pregnant and they moved me to a department where I'm not around them. So now I have no contact with any just do legal work and paperwork. Still at same pay and still at a equal position. I'm glad

My advice would be to have a look around before leaving. And check the impact on any maternity benefit you may be entitled to. Don't know if this even exists in Australia though...? ☺

I'm a nurse in the ICU but where i live as soon a you get pregnant you stop working. I am still being paid about 75% of my salary so i do not have to worry about an income even though its less money.
Some women have found a job while being pregnant. You can always try to find something, you never know...

If you want to switch jobs it's best you do it now before getting too far along . Your still early so you shouldn't have a hard time considering your probably not even showing yet . Good luck !
