First time pregnant

Hey ladies,

I'm new on this cos I found out am pregnant after trying for the past year. Only had to change a few things and monitor my ovulation days more careful, then the blessings followed.

I'm still in my very early stages and trying to understand what it all entails. I'm also avoiding reading too much as not all are rosy and wouldn't want to dwell on negativity.

I'm already taking folic acids but constipation is a nightmare, so I've been taking Fybogel for the past 2wks to help ease things which is not easy. My boobs are bigger, I'm very tired but worse of all very sleepy during the day in work. When I get home, I'm not able to sit so I just lay on couch. Insomnia is another issue and I met with my nurse yesterday who said it's only the beginning of fatigue as it's set to get worse. Allergies are also getting worse but not allowed to take antihistamines.

If any of you ladies have any "tried, tested and successful" method, not from what you read or hear...please share. Thanks again and I look forward to using the forum more :)

Thanks ladies for the great feedbacks, really appreciate them.

My doctor is very particular about not giving chemicals (drugs) unless absolutely necessary which is good. Yes the allergies were a nightmare but have calmed a bit in the last 2 days. I went to my Doc this morning cos I'm running temperature, slight headache, loss of appetite and blocked nose...but I wasn't prescribed anything. He's our family Doc for years and would rate him 100/100 so I'm happy enough to follow his recommendations.

I don't know if the Fybogel is helping cos I can feel I need to go to the loo, but my anus just won't open. I go walking and even sit on the loo over 30mins with nothing. Worse of all, I feel really clogged up cos am carrying **** (literally) around and feel bloated.

I was always so energetic that I was banned from taking energy drinks but right now, my energy levels is like 20%. I get so tired after sitting at work for 8hrs, so when I get home I just lay down. Doc said it's usually bad in first trimester then good in second trimester and then bad again in third trimester.

It's my first pregnancy and dunno what to expect, so just praying to God to guide and lead me safely.

I haven't had much constipation, but I've also been craving and eating fruit like crazy. Pomegranates especially seem to keep me regular. Congrats!

For constipation I took fiber gummed daily with my last baby. After about a week I became more regular. I struggle with insomnia as well, walking right before bed seems to help me. Antihistamines like benadryl are safe during pregnancy and are suggested by some doctors for a sleep aid as well.

I experienced all the symptoms you described. They suck but most of them get better, except the fatigue kinda lingers. For constipation, I take colace twice per day, and drink a glass of prune juice every day and that takes care of it. Insomnia ***** too. You can try unisom, which is fine during pregnancy. In fact , coupled with vit D, can really help with nausea.

Congrats on your pregnancy! All these all temporary and lead to a baby! Sounds like you are right on track!

Is there any specific reason you can't take antihistamines?  They are safe during pregnancy and some even recommended to help w nausea. My doctor recommended Claritin for my allergies.

For constipation I always have a water bottle with me and one of my snack of the day is dry plum. I also discover that for me a 15 min walk help to go when nothing else would. For fatigue, I slept nearly 10 h every night of my first trimester but I stop in the second... and I have insomia in my third but I stop working so I nap if needed. I have had an easy pregnancy overall even with gestational diabetes.  I wish you the best!
