I haven't got my flu shot bc I'm worried about the risks even though I know the benefits out weigh the risks.. I'm still worried.. Any moms out there have the flu shot?

I get a yearly flu shot because I get the for free where I work, and they want everyone to get one.  It is safe to get one while pregnant, and it actually passes immunities to your baby.  It's also good for nursing mothers because the immunities pass to the baby through your breast milk.
Some of my family members are ones that believe that the flu shot causes the flu, but it doesn't.  It can't, it's a dead virus.  Maybe people get sick afterward, and they may have what's more of an allergic reaction than getting the flu.  The same family members also believe the flu is vomiting, when really the flu is a respiratory problem.
I'd say if you want to get the shot, it will help your baby.  He/she can't get a flu shot until after 6 months old, so in my opinion, the more you can protect him/her after birth, the better.

I feel you! My Doctor keeps pressuring me to get the flu shot but I'm just like I don't feel like it's an necessity especially because I never gotten sick with my previous pregnancies and before becoming pregnant I never get the shot regularly! She keeps trying to scare me with these stories of other Women getting the flu but I'm like, everybody is different and has different experiences

I got the flu shot twice in life. Once with this pregnancy & once with my 1st. On my own merit I would not have gotten it. I have never had the flu. My hubby is in the medical field and believes strongly in the flu shot. So being it is half his child I did get it twice.

I got the flu last year, I usually don't get it because I don't tend to go out much. I got so bad I didn't eat anything for about two days and mostly made it out of bed to use the restroom for almost that entire week.
At the worst point I couldn't even text or roll over in bed because it hurt to move so much I'd burst into tears. I got to the hospital the next day and had to have breathing treatment and everything.
I would rather kill myself than go through that pregnant. Got the shot this year and my arm was tender all night, I was exhausted and had to get to bed, but after a few days my arm was fine and I didn't have any other effects.

I got the flu shot. I come into contact with the general public. the flu can be spread very easily. being pregnant you are more immunocompromised and have a higher chance of complications from the flu. I had the flu in 09 with my first son and we were worried we'd lose him at that time. the vaccine I was give was a dead virus that was preservative free. I was not worried about getting sick from the pathogen due to it not being alive.

I didn't get it because I haven't had the flu in like 20 years, no joke and I'm 26. This is my 3rd pregnancy and haven't gotten one with any of them. If you normally get one yearly and it helps you you should probably go ahead and get it. If you are usually healthy and don't get the flu you're probably fine not to get it.
